Do drop pods show from just exploring?
I remember in the old version of the game i would see drop pods all the time from just flying around, however now i need to buy navigation data items to locate them. Ive been flying around for hours and have not seen one in the wild yet. Am i just missing them now or do they only generate if you signal boost the data?

(ps. I am finding them, but only with the signal boost/navigation data, and it makes me feel it just generates them to that location)

I've found a couple just while flying around the planet. RNG loves to mess with us.

Hmm u mean the drop pods where u upgrade your exosuit? they appear in the visor like unknown buildings, at least for me. And i think they are showed too in the ship if u use the scanner.

Hope i can understand me, im from spain and i play in the spanish version

I understand you. And yeah they do. However in the version 1.0 of the game when it first released i could visually spot there everywhere without scanning for anything or using any visors. Now it seems they spawn very rarely.

Which i actually like. Makes finding them more of a challenge. I just wanted to make sure it was not generating them based on navigation data.

Interesting. I'll continue to keep an eye out then.

I regularly buy the drop pod navigation data, then use it with the signal booster to travel to as many as I can. It's a good way to get the expensive space upgrades.

Forewarning in case you haven't read, the signal booster is glitchy so don't use it near your base.

That's how i've been doing it. I was just wondering if i can spot them by eye without using anything.

Ah yes, you can find them in the wild... it's just somewhat hard. Given the possible size of the planets, coupled with the sheer number of possible POI's and the footprint of drop pods being relatively small, it can be rough finding them without help.

I found three right next to each other earlier today, right near to a manufacturing facility though, so I can confirm they are there, whether you have a nav marker or not.

Agree, they are still around and you can spot them just by flying around. Night-time is easier as they are lit up. Some planets they are spread pretty thin and can be hard to find, while others you can see the next 1 from the 1 you landed at. No change there from pre-Beyond. Happy hunting :)

It seems to me that they are usually in a dip in the ground so very easy to miss when flying overhead. They do sometimes show up with the ship scanner ('C'). On the ground they will show as an unknown building in your visor ('F') if you are close enough.

There is an exploit that you can use to find multiple drop pods with the same drop pod coordinate data. Save the game, use the signal booster and fly to the drop pod, noting the landmarks along the way. Then reload the game and make the same trip from memory.

Ps. you can also make note of the coordinates when you get to the drop pod location you are trying to remember, then fly to ;)

Might be based somewhat on planet difficulty. I was flying around on a Verdant planet with "Frenzied" sentinels, which counted as an "extreme planet," and by mashing my C key to ping nearby buildings with my ship I manage to find like 10 drop pods in an hour.
