How do you find your base again
Okay so I haven't built a base yet, but since there is no map feature I wonder how you find your base again if you leave the planet and then come back. Does it have some sort of permanent marker that you can always see on the planet? Or is there some other mechanic involved in returning to your base if you leave the planet?

I realize this is probably a stupid question and the answer will be obvious to me once I have a base, but it's been driving me nuts trying to figure it out and so figured what the heck, I will just embarrass myself and ask the forums, hehehehe

Yes there is a permenant marker everywhere you are that shows you right where your base is. You can warp too it too.

Also a teleporter in any space station regardless of where you are, or what system you're in will show a little base icon next to the system your base is in.

If you have a teleporter on your base you can teleport directly to it from anywhere.

Does the teleporter need power to teleport back to it from a space station?

hi

no. but you will need to power the teleporter you want to use it to get back to the space station from your base.

cheers.

Yes, as of the Beyond update teleport portals need power.
Are you sure about this? I teleport from stations to my unpowered base teleporter all the time, and it works fine for me.

I have to provide power when I teleport _from_ my base teleporter, but not when teleporting _to_ it. Usually, when I want to visit a space station, I just fill my generator with enough fuel to power the teleporter for 20 seconds. Then I go through. I can go back at any time through the space station teleporter, even though the fuel to power my base teleporter has long run out.

can you have multiple bases on a single planet and each one will have a marker?

can you have multiple bases across many planets and each one will have a marker?

You don't actually teleport to your base teleporter, you teleport to your base computer. In fact you don't actually need a teleporter on your base at all - to get there. You just need the teleporter to leave.

I am interested in this comment because I want to do the same but haven't worked out how to partially fuel the generator. When I try it the generator grabs my entire stack of fuel.

you have to make sure your ship is far enough away from you and separate the amount you want to fill it (bio generator) with and leave the rest in your ship or freighter. if your ship is close and you try to separate the amounts.. it will still dump everything into the generator.

or

you can build one battery and one solar harvester connect them with your teleport device and it will stay on .. forever. can even add a proximity or activation pad.. switch.. to be more effecient

all the best.

you shouldnt be using the biofuel generator for anything. its worthless. just pretend it doesnt exist. Solar and batteries are super cheap. If you didnt build by an electromagnetic hotspot just use the solar.

so MANY great comments with incredibly helpful information....Thanks so much to all who are responding!!!!

To start: You can teleport to any base computer. Regardless of having a powered/unpowered teleporter or not. It's one way though. You need a teleporter to go elsewhere sans flying/walking.

The best setup for low power transport, is 1 battery, biofuel or solar, 1 teleporter, and a pressure plate.

Wire up the teleporter to the pressure plate and it will only turn on and consume power as long as you're standing on it.

I use the teleport/pressure plate at my main base, and one on each planet i have mining operations on.

Base teleporters have a limit of 50 bases though. If you go above that, bases scroll away permanently unless you remember it's galactic coordinates. With galactic coordinates you can use ancient Portals to go to the planet again, and if you go to the space station there, I think it ensures that space station is on your teleporter list ...then you can then use the teleporter to return to the system space station where you can fly to the lost base to put it back on your base list.

In my last game I had 65 bases and I can confirm that only 50 showed on my teleport list. The others are still there though and if you knew which star system they were in you could teleport to that spacestation and then fly down to the base to put it back on the list - at the expense of another that then dropped off. I'm pretty sure that list is in order of most recent use. I don't know if the space station list is also capped at 50 because I didn't get that high.

This was under Next of course so I don't know if Beyond has changed it (although it is not mentioned in the update notes).
