Not a huge fan of the new blue potential building helpers. They drive me crazy and can't see through them to see what I am actually doing. I wish they had a classic build switch.
On land I build a 1x5 hall of cuboid rooms attached to a tube and a square or round prefab room. I line both sides of the hall with the 10 storage units. Then I'll put a 3x2 set of cuboids at the end for batteries, refinery and such. at the opposite end of the round or square room I add a single tube to a landing pad.
Under water I do the same but the hall is 5 X units in a row with the storage units off to each side.
I can land and construct a minimal base very quickly using this stock design.
