Dreams of the Deep not unlocking..

So after doing some wiki and Googling, they claim that you get the Dreams of the Deep quest after finishing "The First Traveller". I couldn't remember what quest I had to do, but I wound up going a bit past that (I'm on 'The Purge' now) and I never got this quest.

A reddit post I found says to go to a new system once you finish "The First Traveller", but I did that just now and.... no quest.

Is there some other pre-requisate or something I'm missing?

without knowing what's available in your log it's difficult to answer without being told I'm wrong. But i'll take a stab at this. Look in your log. If anything in there in the bottom section says to make contact with a stranger -- that's gonna be the Dreams of the Deep. You may have to scan. Mission doesn't have to start in a system with water in it. Next, go to a teleporter, repeat steps above -- any signals next to teleporter locations should be checked out. I haven't gotten this far yet, but i do have a lot of experience with the game, so things may be starting at different points but the basics are probably the same.

I'm about to get to that point and seeing a lot of ppl glitching on it is worrying.

i did however have some quests that got reest but i managed to do then no problem just took more time. Example while doing the first traverller when you have to do missions i completed upto korvax then built an item in a station with vykeen and it reset the mission back to the vykeen section so i had to run that part twice.

I have "The Atlas Path" and a mission that says to go to the Anomaly and talk to Polo/Nara, I forget... I do NOT have any mission that says "talk to a stranger" though.

And I did warp into a new system, nothing happened.

About time. Took a couple more warps, and actually having "The Purge" selected as the current quest for it to work. Kinda an obtuse way to get it to actually work. Also maybe visiting Nada and Polo had something to do with it, not sure.

It comes near the end of the Artemis quest. While it not be a pre-requesite, it is a good idea to have completed the exocraft basic tasks in the base building missions. Not sure if it is tied or not.

As I remember, you will get a call from space to start it...so pay attention to the beeps damn it!

Oh, this quest's beeps can't be mistaken, has a huge popup in the middle of the screen with purple and white letters.

If memory serves you have a time specification on the start as well as finishing a quest. How many hours in this game do you have. 25 hours I think may be a trigger.

I have had issues with unlocking the next stages due to my inventory being full. I was doing the cartographer quests and got stuck somewhere doing that when they had tried to give me items but because my inventory was full and it never told me I was left stuck. I sold some things and all of a sudden my inventory started filling with the items I was ment to recieve. I believe this was for the Gek cartographer when he asks you to complete the missions. I then went on to do more exocraft missions and completed the Artemis quests I think. Trying to remember when this mission became available now as I have done quite a lot in the last few days...

At 66 hours of playtime into a post-Beyond game with only the minimal main quest missions (stopped when I got hyperdrive and related BP) the dreams of the deep quest unlocked for me when I flew into a booming economy water system with a freighter pirate attack in progress.
