Build an Electromagnetic generator underwater.
Anyone know how to build an electromagnetic generator underwater. Maybe it can't be done. I've found a power spot in the water. I’ve tried just placing the generator on a metal platform, inside a cube and inside a deepwater chamber. All I get is Malfunctioning lockbox ASDASD

I just placed it directly on the ocean floor.

That doesn't work either same error. my base is only 387u so I'm inside the radius.

Once you have located and marked the hotspot, you don't actually have to build the generator at that exact spot, you can move quite a way in any direction for it still to work. Is it possible you could move towards your base and build the generators on dry land?

I built mine a few feet above the water on metal flooring. Just placed metal walls on the floor of the water and built them up until they were sticking out of the water.

Then I added the metal floor sections and deleted the walls below the water.
Added some metal stairs to make it easier to get up to the platform.

My base is over 900u away, so I had to build several platforms on the way out to the hot spot to keep the build menu "Active".

After I had my generators all built and hooked up to my base (Had to Aim VERY carefully while standing at my base to get the wire to connect to the generators) I just deleted the temporary platforms I had built on the path out to the hot spot.

This is a view from the generators to my base:

Or Sealab 2021.:laughing_yeti: Don't build too close to those underwater vents.

Aye, best to just create a platform right above the hotspot for max output. Workes great for sky bases as well. Not sure if it's changed but the farther away you used ti be the less power it would generate.

I too like to build a small platform on which to place my "stack" of generators.

For one thing, I find it better to have that small, smooth platform for easier precise-positioning of the e-gen on the "sweet spot".

Then I might (or, lately - usually) make an "enclosure" around them, going up to the waterline. (It's, obviously, not necessary to do so; but it helps give the stack a more "constructed" look rather than just a naked semi-sloppily-aligned stack).

Sometimes I'll use that enclosure as a starting point to build the "submarine" portion of a base. Usually, I'll continue making a tower upwards, 30-"stories" or so, for a "main base" at the top (which typically is high enough to fall above the NPC ships "patrolling around the area).
