mining cobalt
Crashing the local market with co+ seems to be the recommend way to get your first few million when staring out. One guide said you can mine up 15000 cobalt in 20-45 min. Im not finding that to be true.

Ive only got 3000 co+ after mining for days. Did they reduce the cobalt harvest amount? Its hard to find caves, and each cave only seems to have a few hundred cobalt at most.

Any suggestions? Im trying to keep my mining drill around 80-100% heat. I just cant find enough cobalt in caves.

thanks!

There are planets with cobalt deposits that you harvest with the "terrain manipulator", which DOESNT overheat.
i could see... "possibly"...getting 15000 in an hour if you really really hustled and had some good add-ons for your gun.

1 Ionized cobalt + 2 oxygen = 6 Ionized cobalt. Make as much as you want.

lol thats a medium refiner recipe? Thats broken as hell. IMO any recipe thats exploitative like that needs to be removed.

Broken how? works for me.

works for Condensed Carbon, and Chlorine that way as well.

First thing I did in this new save... looked for one of those hotspots that gave oxygen

1 gold + 1 silver = 1 plat; 1 plat + 1 oxygen = 10 Mag Ferrite.

wait until you find the one that is 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 of another element = 30 Chromatic Metal.

Looking for early game answers. Only 1 slot refiner.

mining cobalt deposits is even slower. You get like 150 cobalt out of a whole patch and it takes forever.

Explore and scan stuffs with Scanner Upgrades on your Multi-tool earns you Nanites & Units.
At 3 Scanner upgrades you can earn just by following the "Tutorial" missions which you'll probably be doing anyway to unlock (for instance) Teleporters etc.
Early game that may be quicker than grinding Mining.

Depends on how you want to play of course.

Look for a planet with a good supply of "Subterranian Relic" nodes in caves. Each one will net you a vortex cube, which sell for a little, and a Tetra Cobalt. Each Tetra breaks down to 150 Ionized Cobalt in the refiner.

You can easily be in the tens of millions in credits after a couple hours collecting, refining, and then vendoring.

Just build an industrial cobalt mine. I can get 45,000 cobalt every 3 hours with one of my S class cobalt mines. Zero maintenance. Just enter base, go to my collection depot, and walla. I expect industrial mining to get nerfed. I just gave away 60,000 Indium in the anomaly.

Unless they really changed all the recipe timers.

Tetra Cobalt breaks down in less than a minute..what you smokin'.

Yeah, Tetra doesn't take any time at all to break down. Each stack of 5 takes like 5 seconds. The initial time displayed is totally wrong. My guess is it's supposed to take that long, but it's a bug they've never fixed...and it's been years.

They actually put in "loop" recipes to help you make money.

You can make Cadmium with Cd+Chromatic metal. 1+1=4 Cd
You can make chromatic metal with just 1 cd in the refinery.

Be careful about refining though because crashing or having someone join your session can make things in the refinery poof.

You can spend some nanites to get a pulse engine C upgrade. Install it on your ship then dismantle it and you can start Cd farming.

you can adjust the size of the harvest bubble with "R" & "T". R makes it smaller and you harvest more but at a slower speed. i get 1500 per average mining node.

But there were some that took an hour, although, that's possibly a display bug.

It seems like any amount of anything in a refinery that goes above 6 minutes or so transforms into saying it'll take over an hour. It drops back to under 6 minutes once however much time above that passes.

This. Always use the smallest one when doing resource nodes. The size of the bubble does not change how much it harvests for some reason, so you get more out of the nodes using the smallest bubble.
