do you need batteries when you use the electromagnetic generator?
or you can just plug the generator to the extractors cause it has A LOT OF POWER

Batteries are always a good idea.
Nice to have backup.

How much are you getting from your Generator?
I haven't been lucky enough to set up a base near anything good so I'm Solar all the way.

well its a C spot for the power and S for mining im unlucky... oh and its 800u away from my base lol (its a little far away) idk how power works tho but it generates 150kPs

That's pretty cool.
Free power.

Might not be enough if you're looking to make a large base though.
I'm already using three times that and I've just kinda started.

Once I got the electromagnetic generators, and figured out how to locate the hot spots and realized that you CAN power an entire base from VERY far away (I've got one power plant nearly 900u away from my base), I ditched ALL the batteries and solar panels.

I did have to link several Generators for one base as I have a lot of power needs, and the closest hot spot was only a C grade hot spot, so the output for each Generator was quite low.

Once I got it set up though, I have NEVER ran out of power and have no need for any more batteries:

As the previous post implies, you can build multiple EM generators on the same spot for more power. Same goes for at least the gas extractor (I haven't built any of the mining part yet).

i tried to connect a wire from my generator to the extractor (which is 800u away) it didnt work then i tried to put a base in the middle to connect the wire from the generator to a battery in the mid base to my extractor base it didnt work lastly i tried to put 5 batteries next to my generators and then connect them to my far away extractors and ofc IT..DIDNT..WORK... i closed the game ill try some other smart dumb ideas tomorrow

^^ This is how you do it - I have an S class power supply 1105u away from base, had to string a series of solar panels to 1000m then construct the power extractors from behind 1000u limit (could not build past this, only within 1000u - can build past a little but you need to construct, wire, plumb from behind the 1000u limit or no access to build menus other than portables.).

I have found though, I cannot now build past 330-350u out on the opposing side of my base - have a nice copper deposit out that way, as I have built all the way to the deposit before and then disconnected from my base once built, but not unable to now repeat, so I suspect it has something to do with my base extending way out on opposing side.

Hope this helps

sooo yer telling me to just build solar panels instead right?

The electromagnetic generators generate a constant amount of power. They do not require batteries. If you need more power, add more generators.

thats alright its done i moved to another planet and everything worked

Can be a good idea to have a battery, because you can see the status of the power grid through (E) on the battery, so if you build or change something in the base, you can easily see if more power is needed.
