One way I get that, is if I make a large room out of glass cuboid rooms and then add another layer of them, to make the ceiling higher.

I've been having the exact same problem of late. I had built a three story wooden warehouse of sorts for all of my storage units and I can't seem to keep the weather out post patch :(

Also cannot build storage units on the wooden floor tiles anymore.

yeah i think you need to decide to build big structure, or piece to piece structure, i've been trying to fix my base for hours and still the weather keep coming inside

I have had weather inside my buildings for such a long time that I consider it to be a feature of the game at this point. I remember building a base before Next hit, and even back then I had weather inside my base. But don't worry about that, buy a VR instead or play some multi, don't concern yourself with these things. HG and Sean sure do not seem to care about it. Anyway, have you seen the NMS steam chart lately? NMS seems to be going downwards like a rock. I wonder why. I mean, I try to not play as much these days as there are game breaking bugs all over the place.

I only make my glass cuboid rooms one layer and have no leaks.

Experimenting with base configurations after the NEXT updated, I came to suppose the game distinguishes inside and outside by how close you are to the nearest wall and ceiling. A three- or four-level hollow wooden base would expose me to the weather, even when it looked like it should be air-tight. Adding some interior walls and floors fixed the problem . . . unless I moved into a part of the base that was more open.

I never quite figured out the limits of that. I just kept reconfiguring interior walls and floors until no part of the interior of my base was exposed to weather.

Basically an open area larger than a 2x2x2 on more than 1 dimension will be considered outside by the game. So a 2x2x20 room is indoors. a 2x3x3 is not. It's measured from the players position, but that's the basic building principle to follow.
It's how the game figures out if something is inside or outside. Adding struts, beams and such in strategic places fixes this, as they all count as full walls for these purposes.
This is a very common way for games to identify indoors/outdoors as it's a very low demand process as compared to other ways.

Thank you so much! This totally solved my problem. Added these Pillars to do the job. Pipes work too, but they looked a bit thin. https://i.imgur.com/WizbLoa.jpeg

Correct^ Rooms with ceilings higher than 2 levels will have weather on the inside (same goes for caves). I use high ceilings only on planets with no weather to worry about.
