Do we really need 500+ food recipes?
So apparently, after watching one of Xaine's videos, there are more than 500+ food recipes. What's the point? I've only made a few but they seem to replenish similar amounts but have different names to it. And others are just bait. But do you need 500+?

I appreciate variety and complexity as much as the next person but I also appreciate simplicity.

I don't need ANY, because there's nothing worthwhile to make anyway.

No we actually need more, and beeing able to make your own and sell on market and create blueprint you can name. Depending on how exotic and processing and ammount of materials they could be come more expensive on the market making the master chef a viable income source.

I'm hoping that we'll get an update in the future that has more uses for the recipes... maybe blueprints and uses for them in missions. Buffs from consuming them. Even selling for credits is a waste since your combined meals sell for the same as the ingredients (800 credits). And trading for nanites is time consuming and pointless if you don't need nanites. and you don't get any more for items that combine many ingredients over ones that require half that.

I am guessing the Devs have a long-term plan, but right now the whole tame critters and make food seems a little pointless. It does add content to the game and it is fun for an hour or so.

I got over it pretty quickly.

Food is pointless in NMS. Utterly and completely pointless.

I am hoping for dishes that incudes lets says frozen tubes will somehow tank your termal frost sheild by a 25% bonus for an hour ect. Eaten raw on the planet with no processing tank you 10% for 25mins ect.

Example 5 dioxide, 5 frozen tubes and a doughnout = Ice frosting doughnot 25% frost shield bonus for 1 hour.

What we need is for those 500 recipes to provide some kind of in-game bonus when ingested.

Isn't the Abyssal Stew the ultimate recipe in the game right now?

I wouldn't know given they don't even have a recipe tree or something.... :/

Id like to see buffs, like maybe a tier 1 cake will give slow HP regen, while a tier 4 could be like 4hp/sec or something, some spicy food could have tiers of cold resist/hp regen, while some drinks could give just cold resist. maybe some food that could buff mining or dmg done/resist.

Thank God for that guy. I couldn't get past half the stuff in this game w/o his videos

I hope your right, but I have not seen much evidence of HG planning beyond the next update.

I'm guessing food may be used as a critical substance later in permadeath mode, making it just that much harder.

Some people data-mined the game and were already aware of the food stuff before it came out. There's more that hasn't been released yet. Most of it is largely unimpressive, however.
