File a Suggestion on their site demanding that GamePad support be added to VR mode. That is all you can do.
Subjective.
It's akin to saying to people asking to buy a game that supports VR that they just flat out shouldn't buy it unless they have VR because it's not immersive enough, which is frankly quite a stupid thing to say.
DITTO!
I much preferred using a GamePad when I was testing out VR headsets last year. At least when it came to playing conventional games like Elite Dangerous and now NMS.
If I ever buy a VR rig, I would want full GamePad support for NMS VR. Otherwise, I would not be interested.
I think it's an option worth adding, though I have no interest in using a gamepad to play NMS VR myself. It's not that straightforward though...
- Fixed hand positions could look very odd
- Aiming / mining / building all attract new issues
In VR hand movement is independent from the POV and has been built around those freedoms. If the player starts using a traditional pad you have a conflict. Aim look would work though it's pretty naff and recalls the early days of VR.
If that's the case ignore everything I've said, there's clearly an existing hybrid solution!
Elite Dangerous has got it down cold. If I am not mistaken, GamePad support in ED VR is the default.
If you haven't checked out that game, you really should! It is lightyears ahead of NMS VR right now. ED is considered one of the best, if not THE BEST VR ready game on the planet.
Full GamePad support since day one.
Bought it for VR in 2015 and have played it for 31 minutes, I should give it another chance. It doesn't seem to require the same implementation as NMS, unless I'm mistaken you're largely restricted to cockpits and looking around with the HMD?
I can understand why some people may prefer to use traditional controllers for flight but for everything else it would be awful.
NMS 'could' work but it would require additional development, different approaches to interfaces and game mechanics and still have serious limitations. It's a lot of work for an inferior experience and I suspect a limited audience.
I like the way the way it has been implemented and can be played without a huge floor space. There are some great roomscale games out there but I don't have a dedicated VR room.
No, it got lost in the sea of non VR issues. Also I managed to get it working ;)
Ohh its so much better with the controller for flying
Well thats just false, How can it be "lightyears ahead" of NMS VR? Elite does not even have an option for VR controllers. Unlike NMS you only sit in a cockpit of the ship and all the VR does is act like a sort of immersive camera view and thats it. Trying to compare these two games is just stupid.
