Will this get me banned?
So I was going about my day doing the artemis questline, when someone joined my game (no clue who, a friend of a friends friend or something, and he gave me a ton of indium or whatever its called. He gave me roughly 35 million credits worth. I found the guy on steam and can see he has 40 ish hours of ingame time.

My question is, if I sell it, will it be a bannable offense?
I didn't cheat, but someone probably did, so will I get punished?

its a big universe ;)
There are people who play modded versions of the game where they give themselves their dream items, currency and resources galore.

While I don't know if they would join us in the same mp session, I'm confident that you won't get banned for selling something you received from another player. Even if its not honestly acquired.

The lines aren't drawn clearly enough for that. Dare I say mp in NMS is lacking some form of hard enforceable policy?

There is no policy at all. This is not a competitive multiplayer game, there are no special multiplayer mode or whatever.
Most players don't have much interest in multiplayer anyway.

I give activated indium away all the time in the anomaly. I look for new players in the cute red and white fighters. I then locate them joining their group and, if they have enough inventory space, give them a few slots of activated indium. A single trip to my AI depot puts over 50 million units worth of activated indium in my inventory. Gotta do something with it. 😆

I've literally used a save editor to give myself credits (I'm a cretin I know) and I haven't been banned. You'll be fine

You can't get banned for that. People go on No Man's Sky Coordinate Exchange on Reddit all the time to help find great stuff, including active indium mines where I made over 300 million units in one haul taking maybe 5 minutes. You have nothing to worry about. Enjoy the money to go crazy with.

Nothings better to spil others games then giving them 1 000 000 000 000 Units

when the limit is about 4 600 000 000 ... :steamfacepalm:

Somebody I think accidentally gave me millions in material a few weeks ago while I was on the Nexus. I'm still living off of those now. I initially thought it was a generous gesture, but then I realized how easy it is to accidentally transfer your items to another player instead of your freighter or ship, and realized it was probably a big mistake. Oh well, bank error in my favor, collect $200.

That was me lol

Better to ask yourself if you want to take such a shortcut, or to get your money's worth from the game (if you have the time to invest).

Why would you get punished? Sell it, enjoy the cash. Continue on with your life.

If it really bothers you, get the save editor and delete your credits :steamhappy:
