My roommate and I play this game and I had some stuff I wanted to give him. We picked a space station to meet at, but we couldn't see one another because we weren't in the same instance, I had to quit and join his game through the main menu and only then could I see him.
Nice example of the reason why you were unable to see your roommate when you picked a space station to meet at.
So while you can use the portal on the space anomaly, you won't encounter anyone else in these foreign systems.
The same goes for the alien monolith portals. If you haven't seen these yet they're a different type of portal altogether. You can teleport to portals other people have posted the codes to but unless you're steam friends and you join their game, you'll never see them physically, just their bases.
Thanks, that's good to remember except that I am no longer at his base to use his teleporter to register it into my teleport list. I have since returned to my own base via my Starship, not his teleporter. Had I known before hand what you told me I would have used his teleporter instead.
That's okay I don't mind no longer being able to return to his base. But when I was there looking around his base for the one time I was there, I was impressed that he constructed it on a planet that had no toxic gas, no freezing temperatures (it was around 78 degrees outside temperature, and no harmful radiation anywhere around his base. His location, and presumably the entire planet (?) had a non harmful tropical environment. It was a treat to exit my Starship to explore the nearby vicinity without any depletion what so ever of my Exosuit protection.
I'm actually not sure how you change galaxies... is that a black hole or is that the end game ATLAS reset?
In my first game I didnt know about this setting, and some asshat griefer, managed to get into my game and started killing me, initially I thought it was a NPC pirate of some sort, til he started boasting about his superiority in the chat.
Its possible *under such circumstances* a random person has joined your game, you've not noticed the alert saying *someone* has joined your game and this persons base locations have been added to your destinations.
1. if you have a friend on a different Galaxy you can go there... Steam Friends...
2. On the space anomaly InterStellar Portal... Via Base Visit...
Thanks for the tip, I hadn't given any attention to those settings until you recommended I do.
Here then is a detailed description of what I have now done:
Went to Options and selected Network.
Saw a "Network" panel of options and a "Current Group" panel of options.
1. In the Multiplayer panel of options have made the following changes:
> Multiplayer [Disabled]
> Can join my group [Invite Only].
2. In the Current Group panel of options have ensured that only my name was listed as being in Current Group.
