There is nothing usefull and working, when trying to do multiplayer, only frustration. Don't !

Yeah, but shouldn't I at least be able to see other bases located there, or see that the planet has been discovered by Player X instead of showing it as a new planet?
That would explain it: all the bases I was referring to were all settled around the portal.
So, is there any way around my issue? How can I get to that system besides using a portal? Jumping from system to system doesn't feel realistic, for all I know it could be on the opposite side of the galaxy.
Did you find how how far away you were?

You may have to complete the Atlas mission to gain access to black holes. Depending on how far away you are from where you want to be...black holes can really shave off a lot of warping.
OK, I used a portal, planted a Signal Booster to get the "Galactic Address" NMC needed to manually add the location. Then, I used NMC to teleport myself to that location, loaded NMS and my game, and sure enough, I was at that location without being location-locked by an active portal.
However, original issue seems to be the same: I can't see any bases in the system, and the system and specific planet still registers as a system I'm the one who discovered recently.
So, I'm still stuck with the issue of my game not synching with Hello Games' servers, at least when it comes to this specific system (I've been in other systems marked as discovered by other players).

I've been trying to understand this myself. First thing to know, there are no servers in No Man's Sky. If you want to see other player's bases, the best way is to join their game.
You can meet other players in the Anomaly and go on missions with them. I tried this, it didn't seem to work to well for me, so never did it again.
There is that portal in the Anomaly. Apparently you can save your base there. I assume you can teleport to those bases from it, but have yet to try that either.
Good luck on figuring this out. I've been playing the game a little over three weeks and am still completely confused about so many of the features of this game
Ever since the Next update, if a player built a base on a planet and you went on that planet, the base was there, plain and simple. With the Beyond update, you need to have multiplayer turned on, but again, if the base is there, you see it. I saw the player's gameplay footage where he was on the planet, simply turned on his multiplayer, and the bases just appeared. I'm on the same planet, looking at the same place, and I don't see a base.
Also, since the earliest of versions, if a player named a planet or system and you went to that planet or system, you saw "discovered by Planet X" and the system and planet would have the name the original player gave it. But I go in the system, same "original name", but it doesn't have the customized name and it says that I'm the one who discovered the system, as if no one was there before.
It doesn't make sense. It's as if we weren't on the same platform, but we are: Steam PC, both.
A while ago I tried to build a base together with a Steam friend, but that didn't work out so well. When he was offline I could not see his base computer let alone his buildings. When he was online, buildings would constantly become invisible and we had to fly of planet and reenter to load the scene again.
NMS is not really a MP game if you ask me. The new MP is a joke. I stick to single player... that's where the game shines.
"Sticking to SP" is not a solution to the problem I'm facing. I don't expect nor want an MMO experience, I just want to use the features the game does have, features that are currently working for other people, and is apparently working for me, too, save for the aforementioned issue in this post.
