Helios & Ares do nothing for me...
This has been discussed already, so I went on playing and have now an acceptable Milestone record in all categories, but not very far in the storyline yet, just at Ghost In The Machine.

Yet these 2 guys do nothing for me in the Space Anomaly, I've read they are supposed to give nanites, and actually IIRC Helios did so at the very first time I have entered the Anomaly, but never since then. Other NPC's also do nothing (also this group of 2 which I cannot name here).
Is it so that you need to play MP to get rewards for them, or will you also unlock them at some point in SP?

I don't want the exact solution, but just a pointer that all this will work for me when I go on playing. Thank you!

I hadn't been to the Anommaly for ages, and since then I have just been there, but still my nanites didn't change. Even after getting the maximum milestone for everything and pretty much achieving everything there is in the game. I think it is broken. My save has also exclusively been played right from the start on the Beyond version. Also never used mods, save editors or anything.

That's too bad, but if broken it will surely be changed in the next versions I guess. Thanks for your feedback!

I just got nanites from both, one for milestones and the other wanted flora data. So I guess you need some threshold of data or milestones for them to work.

Thanks for the tip Tkwoods :)

I think its something to do with the server connection, I am unable to connect to the server to upload exploration data and Helos/Ares also do nothing. Been like this since release of the update.

Gotta say I sometimes wonder at the hype over this game as if its the second coming of Jebuz, when there is still so much broken $#&@ in it...

Discoveries and milestones are daily turn-ins, though it's not made clear in the game. Go back after 24 hours and you can turn some in again. However, if you haven't reached any new milestones or made any new discoveries he wants (he only accepts one type of discovery each day) since your previous turn-in, they still won't offer you anything.

You may/may not need to have discoveries uploaded first also. I'm not sure about that, because I always upload before I leave a planet.

It's not that way for me. When I had low milestones I think I received something(first time spoken to him) but never again. Like I said I now have the maximum milestone for everything and scanned probably 500 plants total. I have visited them many times in my playthrough but never got anything.

Didn't work either, or apply to me. Hopefully the bug gets fixed so I can have some extra $$$...! I also always uploaded everything.

They provide nanites when you come in with uploaded discoveries.

The two weirdos in the lobby on the right side...I think they may just be wastrels...but maybe they do something if you complete the Nexus MP missions. They must have a purpose, but they only say hello when I talk with them.

Are you running a pre- or post-2.0 save? NMS has quite a history of stuff being broken for some people on old saves but not others after updates. Those 2 NPC's now do some of what Nada/Polo used to do before the rework, so if you're on an old save it may just be borked.

I'm running a new save because the powered bases addition was an absolute disaster for my old bases. I've encountered no issues with the new NPC's or any of the questlines on a post-2.0 save.

I'm exclusively running a Beyond save. Started a totally new game with new settings files as well when Beyond officially came out. So post-2.0 save. Heck, before Beyond the game wasn't even installed. There was no 'old' trace left.

My advice would be to go through the missions if you have not already (especially if this is a new Beyond save).

What do you mean "go through the missions"? I've completed everything except 'Enjoy the Galaxy' and some other one that says something like "visit Nada and Polo for Black Holes and Atlas Stations". Visited very many Atlas Stations and Black Holes already as well. Currently making my way to the centre and nearly there. Completed all side missions as well except the Agricultural one(at Gravitrino harvesting).

That's why I said "if you have not already". If you already have the missions completed then I would say it is something else unique to your situation as they are giving me nanites just fine. 50 per star and not sure how many per plant/mineral/animal but not much. They nerfed the amount heavily with a recent patch. I assume that you have the Anomoly mission selected on your log when you visit them? Not sure if that is required, but it specifically states in the text to visit them for nanites and I always make sure to have it selected when I visit them when I get nanites.

Yeah I have had that mission active but it doesn't change the thing. I also had multiplayer enabled for the majority of my playthrough but that didn't change a thing. I never played with other players though except seeing them in the Anomaly.

Just another thought on this. If you have any mods, you may want to disable them and see if that helps. Are you able to get anything from the cooking NPC? Just curious if it is all NPCs for you or just those two.
