Why isn't there a Mod Manager for this game??

Hi all ...

I'm not trying to start a big row with this question ... I'm just interested for my own piece a of mind.

Why isn't there a mod manager for this game?

I can't get Vortex to work with it because it sets the wrong path to the mods folder.
I've looked on the internet and can only find one video that's 3 years old showing a mod manager working but a few bad reports with it ... it doesn't appear to have been updated.

A google search about Vortex/No Man's Sky Modding actually led me to a Steam discussion that I'd started a month as the No.1 result ... (I must admit I felt a small tinge of pride when I opened it).

I can mod the game via GAMEDATA/PCBANKS/Mods and I do have a working game so I'm not just having a tantrum.
I've just gone through the process of updating my mods after the last update and as we all know that can be a bit of a chore ....

So ... why isn't there some small dedicated mod manager?
What's the reason behind it? ... is it something to do with the code etc?
Is it just too damn hard to do? ... or has nobody got around to it?

I'm used to modding games like Skyrim/Fallout 4 and there's plenty of tools for that.
I played XCom 2 Long War and found a nice simple mod manager for that online which did the job fine ... very basic but helpful to organise mods ...

But for this game I've found nothing ....
I would've thought some enterprising young modder would've whipped one up by now.

This isn't laziness on my part for not doing it myself ... It's plain ignorance ... I'm just a user of mods with no computing skills.

I'd appreciate some kind of an answer so that the next time I spend the evening going through my mod list after an update ... I'll know why ...

Nexus Mod Manager works. I can't be bothered with Vortex (yet) myself, so I still use that.

There's also NMS-MCDaMM, which is a bit more complex and can be used to find conflicts and merge mods.

I didn't realise that NMM was still going but I'll download that new version of it.

I'll also take a look a that other one although I fear that it may be a little above my paygrade atm.
