any way to make big bucks with farming plants?
i don't like farming indium. i think it's boring. and it's always found on depressing planets.

if you have other fun moneymakers they're welcome too.

can you make decent buck with cooking?

Crafting high-tech items is really profitable in credit terms, the most valuable things you can possibly sell, but you need to complete the farming quests or get the blueprints in some construction plans, or in Nexus, or in Manufacturing Buildings after solving puzzles (these plans will not show everytime however.)
Cooking i don't know, I go out eating, I'm not in the cooking branch :)

It starts with simple things like 'Acid' blueprints etc. Maybe they have changed the farming rewards in Beyond, but I don't think so. Do the farming quests one by one and you are given one valuable blueprint after another.

Then, another 'fun moneymaker' is chasing Stormy Crystals on extreme weather planets. It pays around 1M credits in 5 minutes or so if you are fast.

See my recent comments in another thread about doing just this as a side diversion while trying to complete the Extreme Survival milestone. I collected 180 Story Crystals total.

My first farming strategy was using biodomes to grow combinations of plants to produce circuit boards and explosives, with a bit left over for something-or-other... living glass? The biodomes were ideal only if I skipped the wasteful side entrances and used a central ladder for access. I despise the ladders, though.

Farming if done with all the blueprints available to you is very lucrative. No one should really grind as the game is not really designed like that. You get blueprints by exploring visiting buildings, the Anomaly etc basically doing everything. They soon drop. Open everything you find too. Follow the story to conclusion.

It is easy to get distracted in this game which is why many players don't find the blueprints they need to farm the high value items.

The high value items drop from mission rewards and frigate missions. These can be combined with farming simple plants THEN combined into 15 Million Unit items regularly. Just work out all the plants and items needed to farm one of the Stasis Devices and build a few farms for those. You'll soon have more than you need and can visit each farm on a round trip so you do not have to wait for things to grow.

Actually you can visit other player farms if you have collected portal addresses. Also it is worth pointing out that you can find all the plants you need in the wild, without waiting. While you look for the plants you can scan creatures and flora for even more units. You can plant specialised plants outside in the correct biomes. They grow quickly too. It just means visiting the right planets and biomes. If you don't like exploring then that might not seem like fun. But it can be if you keep free slots for ALL the plants and pick them as you explore.

If you want to make units increase your storage capacity, upgrade mining beams, and collect the plants just by idling through the game. Just have fun and really don't try to grind (too much, only when you want to)

The ship I was using to store the items to create Stasis Devises

Its far slower than buying and selling wire looms and teleporting along your list of stations each day. Wire looms is probably the fastest way to reach the Unit cap without using the Cheats available like the save editor. But does feel like an exploit.
I had a list of 40+ stations and was making 130+mil a teleport so that was about 40x130mil a day if I wanted. which i didnt :)
Stasis Devices was only making me about 300-400mil a day.

But anyway that image has everything needed to build a Stasis Device :)

5.2 BILLION in a day!?
Yeah, that sounds.... glitch-ish.

Especially since 4.3 is the limit on units you can have.

Well to be fair, they never said they ATTAINED 5.2 billion. That was just the total of 40 stops at 130,000,000 units per.

i have reached the end of the farming quest. i have all the things available in the anomally. nothing more. which plant is the most valuable? not in terms of grow speed. i like to get back when i want so my plants are always full grown.

or do you craft those devices? i look into it!

Search online for the recipe tree on Stasis & Fusion Reactors. They are 15mil each.
But to start, Living Glass, Liquid Explosives, Computer Boards, Acid.
Here is a good graphic:

Unlock items via the Manufacturing Facilities. Then you craft them.

Liquid Explosives is my favorite for early game so far. You can unlock it fairly quickly, it only takes three ingredients. Other items that sell for more take more ingredients.

Stasis & Fusion Reactors give the most money, but by the time you can make those, you probably won't need any more money. There really is no point in this game to making more than about 100 M in a day.

The quick early game way to make money is to trade stuff like mentioned above. I've never tried trading wire looms, but that sounds good. Only problem is you need money to buy them first. A better initial method you can use almost immediately is to find a cave and harvest a bunch of cobalt. Sell all the cobalt at the first Galactic Trade Terminal you can find. You will notice the price goes down for cobalt at that terminal. Now buy it all back plus whatever that terminal had originally. Find another terminal with a good price (I try for > -10%). Sell it all again and buy it back. Repeat until you have a full stack. Now you can sell it all and only buy back a full stack repeatedly (lots of warps will be needed). You should be able to raise the cash to get your first spaceship other than the starter this way. Maybe switch to wire looms if that works better once you have enough cash to buy all the stock available at a trade terminal.

This worked for me. I'm sure you can fine tune this to what works best, I only used it long enough to get a freighter and make money from frigate missions. I also then switched to growing the ingredients for Liquid Explosives. Never perfected the trading method.

Yeah crashing markets is too much like the Warren Buffet evilness. I shy away from it. I'd rather work the market trading or farm, mine, etc.
I usually make cash by Explosives, Glass or Boards. Usually a combination of them but concentrate on one.
As for looms, you can get a small stockpile breaking down useless tech. I get quite a few from green boxes so I install them then uninstall them for the mats. I've never bought any for upgrading since i started doing that.
