Ghosts in the Machine - Locate Apollo's Contact
I know this isn't a new issue, however I'm a recent player and none of the solutions I've found (all posted 2018 or earlier) resolve it. Same as many, I'm on the part of the quest where I have to find the contact, but I have no marker at all.

Previously proposed solutions:

1) Move the quest to the current system - I don't have that option. I'm familiar with it, I've done it on other missions, but this one doesn't have it.

2) Jump around a few times, it will eventually show up - I have dozens of jumps, it hasn't shown up.

3) Learn the platform and circular room - I did this on the Anomaly before I ever got to this stage of the quest. Can't learn it again, and it isn't pushing past this step.

I even tried building the platform and the circular room, no help there.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I too am having the same issue on ps4. Would be interested to see if anyone resolves it. I ignored the missions at first and just wanted to do my own thing so not sure of I have progressed too far now 😬 I'm 60 hours in so restarting the game isn't a option.

I've done this several times, it's not a very logical progression. You have to expand your base a bit for the quest to sequence.

So you talk to Apollo.

He sends you to get some nanites. Usually an abandoned building.

Then it highlights the contact location.

The contact gives you some stuff.

You go back to base and build a bit.

Then onward.

It's possible you have not picked up any nanites.

I haven't from a console, maybe...? I usually just refine the spawn.. glow ball.. things. Can't remember the name. Thanks, I'll give that a go.

I hope this helps someone because I was going insane.

Go to a warp gate on a station and find the station with the claw mission symbol. Warp there, the contact is in a side room near the parts dealers.

Thanks for typing this comment! This was driving me nuts for hours because I had absolutely no idea where I was supposed to go. So after reading your comment I went to the space station with the claw icon on it, talked to an NPC in one of the guest rooms (which I didn't even know those rooms existed until 30 hours into the game), and I was FINALLY able to continue on with the quest. Thanks again!

Was there any other solutions found since then? I've tried everything in the comments listed here and I still can't find Apollo's contact, even tried building my base up more to no avail, and yet, when my gf got the game and started playing with me, she reached this quest with even less progress than I made but immediately was able to find the contact.. I've even tried talking to the exact NPC that was marked as Apollo's contact for her, but he didn't progress the mission, nor was the contact for me.

To advance in the 'Expand your Base' mission you must - as told in the mission - go find the NPC at the space station first who will give you generic instructions which will start the 'Expand base' stuff. What is so difficult, can't you follow the navigation icon in the 3d world? Don't look at the map, look in the 3D world for the icon, it leads you straigth to the NPC.

BTW, if you cannot do that you will also have problems hiring a specialist later...

For your information, I've already long found the specialist, scientist, farmer, and technician NPC's.. I know how to follow a navigation icon, if I didn't I wouldn't have been able to make it this far, goodness. Please don't assume the answer to the problem is so simple with a snide attitude when I already explained I've exhausted the options given to me. The issue isn't "Expand your Base", the issue is "Ghosts in the Machine", I only stated I built up my base by doing the former quest because one of the recommended solutions was that I do so, which didn't solve the issue with Apollo's contact not showing up.

This is driving me nuts ...
same than you, I tried everything,
I'm blocked in this mission, and I can't expand my base because of another bug
And the only solution to this second bug it is supposed to do something with the fregate, which I CANT GET SINCE I CANT FINISH MY MAIN QUESTS

The original issue I submitted this for resolved itself out of the blue for me one day. The dude just happened to be on a random space station I landed on. I'm sorry I don't have a solution.

You can get a frigate outside the quest line, if that's currently a blocker for you.
1) Play for three hours (cumulative, does not have to be in one go)
2) Jump to a new system 5 times (I think this DOES have to be in one play session, not sure)
3) On the fifth jump (or maybe sooner) you'll land in the middle of a space battle. Kill the pirates, DO NOT SHOOT THE FREIGHTER, and afterward you'll be able to claim the freighter for free.

So, I'd recommend reading more about this for options on how to optimize this / get a better starting freighter, but if all you need for now is just "a freighter", give this a go.

Feel free to ping me sometime if you have questions or want more details.

OK, I tried all these and no luck. However, if anyone is still having an issue, take a close look at the star map and see if you got two stars bunched together and try to warp to one. I actually thought "wow, I just warped to a system I'm already in wtf" until I came out of warp speed and noticed that I was in a totally new system with a ton of planets I hadn't yet explored and the mission marker showing me the way to the dude I was looking for. I'm new to this game so I originally thought that the system I was in was a dual star system that actually exists. I'm guessing that the algorithm just placed two star systems too close together.

I'm having this problem but for me i have met him and got the blueprints but the quest still tells me to meet him

If a waypoint is misplaced it means ther game has no valid target to assign. You must change location and retry elsewhere. Is that also too simple as a solution, SoulfulZane? And what about reloading game which solves waypoints in most cases?
Never had this problem in 4 years, sorry, I cannot reproduce to help you.
Then, all missions can be reset by warping far away, so do it instead of messing around with a broken mission.
