Question for Traders out there!?
I'm trying to role play as a trader in high priced goods so that I can get a big fleet going.
Some Minerals are valuable but I sink alot of time mining them. The eggs and rare stuff is good money too but again, sink alot of time in finding them.

I found the most profitable way is to search for buried tech and sell stacks of 15 of them, because they are 50k a pop.

Am I missing something? Or is this the most efficient way to make money without exploits?

Activated indium and stasis devices is where the big money is at. 10 stasis devices have a base value of 115 million or something.

You could try the Market if you have not already.
Here is a guide for Next. Not as profitable as Activated Indium but it is more in line with your role playing and may be more fun for you.

But just do a search and you may find more/better/different info.

Just mass buy wiring at station markets when you have a decent size inventory unlocked and resell then rebuy them until they hit the -75%ish market price then go to a new station and repeat and get even more wiring over time and if you have a large portal network you will be set for awhile.

The prices will reset over time if you need to do this even more but with a good size inventory you can make about 35ish million per station hop and there is really no faster way of making units doing this.

Market trading is the most lucrative way by doing this or using the different system economy's to sell between different types.

Otherwise you can set up farms for resources like people have done with activated indium but you will need to find the resources with a survey device and hopefully a power node near one another to do this decently.

I have a couple of bases set up in order to make Stasis devices every day.
The only resource I am missing and buy at the moment is Ionised cobalt.
Everything else is grown or mined.

Here is the Hauler I use for Stasis assembly :-

And here is my main plant farm :-

Quite good fun setting it all up. :) 1 large base and about 5 or 6 collection depots for gasses, extra plants and some Minerals.

Just finished creating a base called Vault that has combination locks to get to the storage containers where Im filling them with stasis devises :)

I do this at the start of each new character.
I start with cobalt mined as im fixing the starter ship, then upgrade suit normal slots first selling and buying cobalt till I have 20mil.
Thats normally around the 3rd system station and when the Nexus arrives.
I then swap to Wire looms and go back to station 1 sell-buy wire and call the Nexus - buy suit cargo upgrade.
Goto system 2 goto station - upgrade suit - sell - buy wire - call nexus - upgrade suit cargo
Goto system 3 goto station - upgrade suit - sell - buy wire - call nexus - upgrade suit cargo
Goto system 4 .....
repeat this until all suit slots are done. I do cargo first - then Normal - then tech.
Takes quite a few hours.
I also number each system. its takes me about 42-43 systems to fully upgrade suit I sometimes get side tracked :)
Depending on the Mode I am playing I make anything from 600ish mil in perma to 2ish billion in Normal. just while upgrading suit.
I then do what ever :)

In essence, following the market items in a trade route is very simple - yet not the best you can do in hourly rate terms: Buy trade items in a system and look at the purple text in the description, this will tell you the next system to head towards to sell them. In the galactic map you can find systems with S and B values ranging from -78 to -29 which is very good, try to find those ones.
Don't sell at trading terminals which will make the prices drop but sell to NPCs only. Also the farthest away you are from space station the better prices you get (selling and buying.)

The best in hourly rate terms is:

- Farming high items (but how did you get there? You must have money already!)
- Stormy Crystals
- Whispering Eggs
- Trade route margin benefits
- Bones, buried treasures, Salvaged tech to sell etc.

I got the Indium drive, went to a blue system and found 5 S-Class Indium deposits. 8 extractors + 40-50 storage depots on each will net me 103MM units in 8 hours and only takes 5 minutes to harvest each time. Takes awhile to find the deposits and create the mining operation, but makes money for me from now on. Each mining operation has a stand-alone teleport attached to a proximity switch, battery and one solar panel. I just pop out of the teleport, harvest in one click and go back through the teleport to my next mine. Sell it all to a dude flying into the space station.

Some really good advice guys, so I appreciate the time you took to write up some neat tricks and hints. Will definitely be following up your guys recommendations. Thanks again.

Just to explain these S and B values you see in the map:
S = -78 means that the best average selling price for an item is -78% below average
B = -29 means .............best average buying price..................is -29% in your favor when buying

-78 / -29 is the best I have seen in the map, generally a good range is -70+ / -22+

Each new system you summon it in and visit the spot near the exosuit npc much like each station has.

Yeabut

you can probably find 5-10 drop pods on a single planet without too much trouble if you aren't in a big hurry.

Meanwhile in regard to creating credits in general, I found it more convenient to make fusion igniters. I have farms and whatnot set up and can probably make 500m in about 2 hr of harvesting and crafting, but I got to 2.5b and I don't think there's anything I can't buy with that.

Still, I don't know, I suppose I'll keep making igniters when I'm bored.

I have an activated indium farm that I'm slowly bulking up just because it's (becoming) pretty, not because I think it's actually useful for credits. Also because I need the extreme weather achievement, if I can avoid refueling my geology cannon again till I get it.

There should be a thread and a separate statistic/achievement for geology cannon deaths.

Hi yer true.
The method I mentioned is all about speed and max credits while doing it.
Like I said on my first day of a new character I can have a Maxed out suit and 2 billion credits.
I tend to have found a full A grade multi and a 48-12 hauler while doing it too but thats down to RNG, the rest is a given in the games current state.

But I have done this 4 or 5 times now since beyond (as thats when i started playing nms) and its getting old. 2 in survival 1 in perma 1 in normal but deleted quite a few while learning what is the most efficient.

I think its time for me to try a playthrough without using units at all.
Some items you cant gather or craft but dismantling tech you gain or buy with nanites should give those items.
Microprocesors and wire looms spring to mind.
Maybe I could even try bartering at the Nexus for goods I simply cannot craft or gather.

I was hoping someone would answer my request for a mod that removes units from the player, alas nothing yet :(

Sell high

You make about 20% more if you buy and sell from trading posts rather than space stations.
