Cargo Inventory Slot?
What can I put in the Cargo inventory slot? I have tried to put minerals, technology, everything but nothing will go in there. What can I store in the Cargo slot? Thanks!

You have to buy/unlock the slots, You are looking at 1 of 48 cargo slots, when you purchase the unlock.

They are also way more expensive than normal slots.

Use drop pods and always pick cargo, use money at the space stations for normal unlocks.

You are going to LOVE those cargo slots as you open more and more. Take your time on any planet and just cruise about, low to the ground, flashing your "C" key in PC. You'll find lots of drop pods that way without having to purchase them. Drop pods are much easier to find with using the Drop Pod Data and your signal booster, but it's a bit expensive to buy so many of them. I like exploring anyway, so finding them just out in the wild was lots of fun for me.

Enjoy!

You can also find the drop pods with an exocraft that has the signal booster upgraded. I found a lot of them that way. Added about 10 cargo slots that way.

Currently I have like 60 M (money is not that hard to get in this game), so I'm just buying the cargo slots for 1 M each now.

You might also be able to find them by interacting with the Cartographer in stations and trading your excessive Navigation Data for Planetary Charts. One of the (four?) Planetary Chart types might have a chance of revealing Drop Pods. I haven't had that happen, but then the game I'm playing has a character that has a fully upgraded backpack and the game may be saving me from wasting the Charts.

I filled mine mostly on drop pods. I wandered around and scanned. Found a lot of Ancient Dat Structures and quite often got drop pod chips from them. I ended up selling my leftovers for a bundle of cash.
Obviously doing the planetside meandering is more profitable if you upgrade your scanner first. I never bother with that but yeah, it is the smarter thing to do... In thprocess, I found a number of crashed ships and got milestones aplenty.

To answer OP, unlock the slots, place everything but Technology items in it. Cargo will hold more of the big items than General slots. Ie: 5 Daggers in General can stack to 10 in Cargo. Batteries & oxygen packs stack to about 50(?) and all else is the 10k stack.

Yes, buy one per space station you visit, or unlock for free* by finding drop pods on planets..

*Drop pods have to be repaired first.. so technically cost resources..

And you can also get a second slot per star system by summoning the Space Anomaly (Nexus) and get one there, in the back by the NPC that has suit upgrade blueprints!

So that is two per system you visit!

I was pretty sure the first slot was open at the beginning of a game. I have been known to be wrong, however, so do try buying that one either on the space station, in the Nexus, or at a Drop Pod. You should be able to stack anything but Tech in those slots, and can, as stated above, double stack lots of things such as albumen pearls and dagger and such. Saves a great deal of distress in the early game and makes life much better later on.

I actually bought all my Tech slots first, to free up more space in my main inventory. I had no idea how the Cargo slot worked and had been carrying all my projectile ammo in there, not knowing that I could open the other slots. My husband had a good laugh at me and explained, thankfully, so don't feel bad about not knowing. It's not really explained very well in the tutorial thingy.
