Mineral Extractor oddness
I wasn't sure if the Mineral Extractor would work if placed on a regular mineral deposit (NOT the deep mineral deposit found with the Survey Visor). First place I tried it was on a Dioxite deposit and it worked! Recorded it as a class C deposit so I hooked it up to some power and a supply depot and got to mining me some Dioxite. I've since tried it on other deposits such as Emeril and Copper but it reports no minerals located (that's kind of what I expected in the first place).
I kind of like being able to use a powered collector on mineral deposits. It seems a lot more reliable than the AMU. Especially when leaving the site. I think you should be able to use the Mineral Extractor and Gas Extractors without needing to find a hotspot. To keep the Survey Visor useful just make all surface mineral deposits you would normally mine Class C and any Gas Extractor not placed at a hotspot gets the same gases an Atomospheric Harvester would get at the Class C rate.

I suspect you just happened to be within range of a hot-spot.

Totally possible... I'll have to check. Certainly gave me the idea that using the Mineral Extractor on surface deposits would be cool. OR... they could add power connectors to the AMU, Atmo and O2 Harvesters. If you're not at a powered base, you use Carbon to fuel them like normal, but if you do have electricity available you can hook them up to the grid as well.
