how do you find your home planet?
So I warped to other stars looking for Spadonium and after I found it I couldn't find my way back to my home planet and my base.

How do you get back to your home planet? There is no marker on the galactic map that I can see.

go to a space station and go into the left door there will be a portal back to your base.

so...no way to find it in the map and warp back? Does your ship teleport back with you?

Yes, the ship goes with you

cant u make a waypoint in galactic map even if tis the system next to yours ?

Well I got home, thanks!

BUT, and that's a BIG but, why in the world have they not yet put in decent galactic navigation? Seems pretty rudimentary and I started playing at release and figured by now it would be in. Disappointed...so fundamental.

Just not the system you are in.

So select the one next to it

The galactic map is a mess to navigate with and to retrace your steps. I've had to create a bloody spreadsheet to keep track, 'cos there is no facility within the game to do so.

Just a simple tab of visited planets would be enough, wouldnt be that hard to implement

It is so baffling that this isn't a feature. Or at the very least, let us just bookmark different systems.

Makes you wonder, if there is not some sort of unique issues involved with the Game Engine and how it interacts with the server, or/and Universe Build, or/and maybe also how games are saved ?

I suspect that if this was a viable feature, they would have added it somehow... the ability to create "unlimited" solar system waypoints, does seem a natural for a game of this scope...

... and, so... Ockham's Razor :)

Heh...maybe they misread the KISS principle as; Keep it Simple and Stupid.

And I might also add that someone posted they keep track of the route in a spreadsheet. If you can do that through another application you can do it internally to NMS.

You can build a beacon in your base which marks it on the map or you could just waypoint it yourself, or even easier, got to a space station and there will be a teleporter to your base
