how to find a hot world
trying to work on base quest and need solanium. i read hot systems are red on the galaxy map but none seem near enough. i did find a warp reactor theta bp but of course it needs solanium! i have one system i can teleport to that has redish colors in space but only one planet and i didnt see any solanium so not sure if its a red system. lots of emeril but no solanium. how do you even find it anyway?

Hot PLANETS not systems. You can find a hot planet in nearly any yellow star system.

ok then how to find solanium? i have never seen that anywhere. i assumed a particularly hot planet would be in a hot system?

You scan planets from space. If it has solanium, it'll say so on the scan report. Hot planets generally have a reddish hue to them.

Does solanium even show up on a planet scan? Isn't that from a plant? I thought the ship scans from space only showed mineral deposits or is that not correct?

They also show one exotic item per planet. I haven't figured out the system yet. E.g. pearls and gravitinos were not listed, but star bulbs and others were listed. I don't recall whether Solanium was among the listed ones. It's on my homebase world so I never searched for it...

hi..

here is a list of all resources..

https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Resource

and here is what those resources should look like while on planet and scanning.

https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/media/nomanssky.gamepedia.com/c/cd/IconScannerLegend.png?version=16ced99e42881efdc24432d202343ac1

the "rare" resources.. like solanium, cactus flesh, fungal mould, frost crystal.. ect.. should show up as a purple bar. (even though purple it not correct in the legend).. as shown here. in the screen shot is scanned fungal mould. if it were a fiery/hot planet.. that would be solanium. ect.

all the best.

FYI, "Red" stars aren't particularly hot to begin with, if that's what you're thinking. In terms of actual astromy, they're the _coolest_, and usually very old. Blue would be the hottest, and generally newest. Ours - a yellow one - is considered mainline, a star in its normal, "adult prime" phase of life. Unless they tweaked that rule of thumb in the past 30 or 40 years, but I think that would still be the general gist of it.

White stars are just below blue in terms of how hot they are, but they aren't in this game.

Green stars, though, don't actually exist.

..Oh, and VERY rarely, a planet may list two exotic resources. Rarely. But they won't both be of the plant-type that depends on the kind of planet, there will only be one of solanium OR frost crystal OR gamma root, etc.

Yeah, I sort of assumed it would come up as purple on the planet but the poster above was saying you can scan the planets from space to see which planets have solanium. I feel confident I can find it on the planet once I find the planet that has it but not sure how to find the planet in the first place.

To my awareness, it's still a lie that you'll find certain elements on certain types of planets. So, you can find that element on ANY type of planet simply by chance. A lot of the descriptions for the game are still a lie, like the fact that the game isn't an open universe.

Well I was just going by this guide:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/61t3or/azs_guide_to_finding_shit_in_no_mans_sky/

where it says, "Red Star Systems: Rubeum is unique material for this system. Generally the planets here will be hot, so you will want to come prepared with thermal protection."

That's why I was looking for red star systems..unless I'm missing something or that guide is wrong?

So does anyone know? Seems like conflicting info in this thread (and from the guide I linked from reddit).

-are red star systems the home to more "hot" planets or do they reside in another color system or is it just all random?

as above.. this screen is by having the planet in question (unidentified) in view and performing a scan.. while in space. once the scan is complete.. it will show the planet information.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1131876181

as for knowing what planet types are available from the galaxy map.. that is not possible. you have to be in the system and scan the planets individually.

does this answer your question?

all the best
