Freighter Prices
Since the price of freighters has gotten so high and it will take an absurd amount of grinding to afford one, is there any point in getting a smaller one? It seems like a waste if you could grind for say two more hours and be able to afford one of the bigger ones.

You do get trade-in value on your old freighter when you upgrade, which can significantly lower the cost, though freighters are still mighty expensive. Apparently, you get an additional break in the price of a freighter if you rescue it from pirates as well.

On top of the cargo space itself, note that freighter are able to jump on bigger distances than a ship.
Mine can jump at 640 ly, where my ship do a 100ly jump... For the same cost ( 1 cell) ^^
So i guess a small cargo can be good on the early game, just for enhancing the jump range, the units put into it are not lost as this diminish the next cargo price by the same amount !

I have found a small freighter, 116k unit base price. This means that if you are lucky and save it from pirates the price will be lower.

I would totally say get the first small one, just for the ability to buy ships. You may be at some station and have to pass up on a ship you really would like because you don't want to lose your fighter (for example)

(buy a couple cheap ships that land on your freighter just for swaps. Then if you are at a space station and see a ship you want, buy it, fly it back to your frieghter and jump in your junk ship and go back to the space station and trade for your good ship you left behind.)

You really want a freigther for the extra base building space, I payed 90 mill units for a A class freigther with +28% warp range and 19 slots, It has earned itself 3 times that ammont in a few days since that with the extra farm i build inside it.

90 million?? that is way less than it is now!! anyways how would I even get 90 million even? I can barely get 1 or 2 million!!

Don't you mean 116 million base price? I've never seen a freighter for anything close to 116k.

I got to the 90 mill by farming from my base with 8 biodomes. around 4-5 mill every 30 mins or so. Is'nt even a optimized unit/hour setup but i can produce almost everything myself.

Go explore a planet in whatever system for 30 mins. Fly back to the station, sell loot, use teleport back to homebase, build your products, return to system, save product in ship or sell on spot depending on price. Go explore next system, repeat.

Before i had a freigther i only had a 29 slot figther with 14 usable cargo slots. I also mined quite a lot on the go if i came about some expensive ore. Filling my small fighter was about 1-2 mill depending on whart ore i was mining.

Now when i got a freigther it's pretty much the same procedure, the only change is I only go back to base when i jump to a new system to top of the ammount of stuff i have for sale.

When i am exploring a system i go back to my freigther between each planet and craft and store the products i make in the freigther to sell in the next system.

Mine was $80 million, about as cheap as they come, but it was A class with 29%+ hyperdrive (only 19 slots though). Was kind of hard to pass up when I've seen C class for 300-400 million, with maybe only 10 slots more.

If this game let you transfer your base in its entirety, I'd have more of a reason to shop around I suppose. Wish that were an option.

Well, I take back what I said earlier. I found a 19 slot class B for 730k.

How? Did you save the freighter from pirates? And was this in live or experimental build? I downgraded back to live since the flight controls are whack.

On Experimental. I guess this is what they meant by "improving" freighter prices in the beta build! :B1:

Oh, and no, I didn't save them from pirates. The freighter fleet warped in, I landed, I purchased. :D
