How to stop the game from pausing when alt-tabbing out of it?

I need to multi-task. I'm stuck using the terrible Steam browser and it's just not cutting it. I want to be able to work on other stuff without it stopping the growth of my farm plants. We should be able to access other windows and interact with them without the game pausing. I'd like to multitask email, do some audio and image editing, and various other internet tasks while waiting for my plants to grow. This feature is sorely needed.

I accidentally tricked the game into letting me use my own mozilla browser once by repeatedly tabbing in and out of the steam overlay and browser, but I can't replicate it. Has anyone else figure dout how to do it?

Haven't tried it myself but many games will continue to run when alt tabbed if you run them in borderless windowed. Worth a shot.

hi.. good chance you are in borderless or windowed mode ingame. when you atl/tab out of game, it will pause the game. fullscreen mode i believe will solve this problem.

So, wait, to be able to tab to other things I need to have the game in borderless window mode or fullscreen mode?

I too want to be able to tab to something else and let the game run in the background so that farm time keeps going

Go to properties for the game, look for "launch options". Copy /RequireFocusToUpdate=false into the text box. Make sure you restart the game if you already have it running.

Just a bit of advice if you are successful. Asking for the game to keep playing while you are AFK is similar to saying "I want to die in-game while I am not paying attention". Even if you are playing normal mode, your grave will be empty if you die twice before you collect your inventory. You will be surprised how easy it is for that to happen even if you think your character is somewhere safe.

Backup your save is good advice.

No it isnt. Its asking the game to continue flying around so I dont have to stare at the 5000th traveling animation. Most of us have played MMOs, this isnt normal for a game like this. If we want to pause we have ways to pause.

This isn't an MMO. This is not a "normal" game. The Devs went out of there way to NOT make this a typical space game.
