If you're sitting at a desk rather than a couch, you might want to just use mouse KB. The controller sensitivity settings in the menu don't seem to work for controllers, but I've heard they do work with the mouse.
That's just it, holding the right thumb DOESNT delete a save. Turns out it does respond to pressing and holding B though.
As far as using KB/MOUSE, not a great option for me. I only have one hand...
I can get by on a controller.. but KBM games tend to require more fine motor control than I can manage and still have fun.
Anyway, for now I can just use the mouse on that menu, but like I said, I'm more concerned about mid-gameplay.
Thanks for the input though!
I reset the buttons in normal mode but couldn't find zoom for the scanner.
I hope I have it wrong as I don't want BIG PICTURE MODE and I don't want a steam controller! Jumping through hoops to get controllers working on games was something from years ago until Steam introduced this crap.
Yeah, well, I've got a lot of years of practice. Don't get me wrong... I get my ass handed to me in multiplayer games. At least I can play though. Forget about it if I have to press two buttons on the same side of the comtroller at once.. it's all over then.
FWIW, I borrowed a Steam controller and it's not really usable by me. I can manipulate the buttons and sticks on an Xbox controller, but those touchpad things on the Steam controller are just too finicky for me.
I'll have to mess with the mappings... be nice if I could find one somebody has already done for an Xbox controller
A few notes:
-The term R3 was confusing me because I usually think of RS (right stick)
-Big Picture vs Desktop had no effect on my system
-Mapping wasnt helping because technically everything seemed to show up ok in there
I had to actually disable steam controller support (or something like that) for this particular game. This completely removes any ability to manage the button mapping or controller configuration via steam, however the net result is that game recognizes the controller natively and everything seems to work fine.
I probably should have realized this as I had to do the same thing with at least one other game (I think it was Watch Dogs).
If anybody needs to know or is curious, I can find the exact screen/setting later on and post it. Again everyone thanks for the help!
Simple rule for any software, the more crap you load the better chance of you having issues/problems with your software. Both Windows and Steam load enough uneeded crap as it is.
Worked for me as well, was having problems with an Xbox One controller. For some reason the menu to make the change is only in Big Picture:
--Switch to Big Picture Mode
--Manage Game
--Controller Options
--"Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers" set to "Forced Off"
Now I can sprint and zoom the visor with R3, and pick up mobile equipment with B. The photo mode controls are also working whereas before I had to use keyboard/mouse.
