How to use Hyperdrive?

I just started playing and have been following the main quests but now it's telling me to open my map and warp somewhere, the problem is everywhere I pick it says unable to warp, even the closest systems. I got the first free antimatter and fueld it up, do I need to find more? How do I even get antimatter?

you should be able to jump with only one warp cell. All the required blueprints (antimatter and warpcell) will be given at some point during the quest.

I had a hard time with that...for a while.
Unfortunately, a LOT of the nearby systems were 'blocked' (the description said it was blocked), by some reason... But finally I found a system that I could jump to.
Once there, continue the quest chain, and you'll get a blueprint to make your own Antimatter.
Just remember to have 'The Awakening' questline as the active one...otherwise you probably will never get the blueprint (I had one of the quests for upgrading my base active...and was VERYT frustrated.. ;P )

i am not quite sure what your problem is, but maybe you are in the same situation like i was:
The selection is locked on the current solar system. first, you have to do a right-click on your mouse to unlock and afterwards you can chose another sytem.

I found a crashed ship & then traded it for a freighter with hyperdrive, now that quest is gone and I don't have blueprints for it or for the warpcell ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I can't even open the map.

this was driving me nuts. i couldnt select a way point either. not sure why i didnt try r click

after pressing M, press right mouse click.. then fly around in space with wsad+mouse to select the target galaxy

You need a hyperdrive upgrade, there are 3 in all 1 of which is for leting you jump freely to off-waypoint planets , the other 2 will allow for farther jump ranges.
