[REVOLVED] Stuck on Planet without Plutonium, Possible?
Currently have probably a single charge for the lunch thrusters and I usually would scour for more before taking off, but I see none on my current planet.

Is it possible to royally screw yourself over and land (and thus overwrite last save) on a planet and not have any means to ever leave from it?

Ooops.. Turns out what little Plutonium I have is not enough for liftoff :( What the heck do I do now?

Possible, I suppose. You should be able to find plutonium on every planet though, some more than others.

Also see this post where someone else is stuck.

I have never found a planet with no plutonium. Sometimes it's underground in caves, but it's always there.

Oh, *phew*, after a treck found a few bits of it.

Crisis averted. Thanks all :)

One of the many reasons why I don't play "survivor" mode... :)

Actually, during that downtime, I was reminded of one scenario where this almost did happen to me. I had dropped onto an extreme hostile sentinel (KoS) planet with little in the way of tool recharge (I had 2 or 3%, just enough to get fuel) and was virtually unable to exit to get more of anything - for ship or tool.

I ended up surveying using my camera, saw a cave behind a hill and went for it. Skin of the teeth stuff.

thing is you should never land on an asteroid or moon that doesnt have fauna, cus then your frak

You can buy pu off traders. And all planets have it -- some very little, but its there. Often if none in sight, try a cave.

Every planet has plutonium, its just rarer on some. Also, don't forget you can use carbon and T9 to make a power cell that charges things that use plutonium if you have the bp.

Really? I am certain that launch thrusters need plutonium specifically. Just like the pulse engine accepts iron only.

*in fact... can you specify what exactly you make with Carbon and T9? (that powers things other than a warp cell?)

Both power gel and power canisters need plutonium. (ED: and power reservoir)

Is there a 4th option I haven't discovered?

This happened to me. Planets tend to produce plutonium on different parts of itself, so check underground, sometimes 0 plutonium spawns on the surface but the cave systems are overflowing.
Now that mining yields a second resource from most objects, I think the odds of finding a planet without any Pu is probably close to zero. Even if no pure deposits of Pu are around, there should be at least one type of rock or stalagmite that gives small amounts of Pu in addition to iron. Plus, you can always buy Pu from outposts and trade posts.

Plutonium is also found in little red boxes at most locations you discover or scattered amongst discarded space junk. You can buy it off landing ship traders or the Galactic Trade terminals. Terminals sometimes can be discovered across the landscape. Caves also sometimes yield a lot.

The OP got it fixed already, maybe he can just delete this or something? People keep posting asnwers without checking that it is resolved

One solution is to dismantle your tech that will release plutonium.
Ask me how I know ;-) No don't, it's embarrasing
