Creative mode is fun and definitely helps a player learn the basics of the game and can prepare them for Normal mode.. it can also be used to figure out things before you do it in Normal mode and learn the hard way (like "What happens to my base when I move it to a new planet?" or "What happens to my old freighter base when I buy a new freighter?")..
Creative mode requires no materials for anything, including installing tech in exosuit/ship/multitool/exocraft.. You can buy/trade ships/freighters for free.. there's no need to farm any resources at all whatsoever, and using your quick menu to recharge everything is super easy and fast..
In addition, creative mode doesn't take any damage.. So you can practice your space battles, you can pick off sentinels without increasing your wanted level, you can run around the harshest of environments with an empty life support and no hazard protection left and the worst that happens is the game nags at you to recharge your empty systems..
so if you're not sure about that $50AUD, and your PC needs upgraded to run the game, I'd advise against the purchase.. here's a neat lil site to plug in your system details and it'll show you how/where you stack up to the system requirements..
