Steam screenshot folder. Once you take the photo, it will save in the steam "View or upload" list. Simply hit show on disk and you will go right to it.

If you are using steam - right click on No Man's Sky - choose view screenshots then in the new window that opens click on - show on disk - it will open the folder where all screenshots for NMS are stored on your PC. In steam - userdata - :-)

Oops ^^^^ beaten too it ! :-)

I checked there and all my previous shots taken using the steam screenshot function are there but not photo mode screenshots.

They are saved in the same folder along with the ones taken the old way. Scroll down to the bottom ( or top depending on how your folder file view is arranged to show most recent at top or bottom of the folder window ) of the folder window for the most recent shots taken. Mine are in there taken by the new photo mode....?

I don't get it .... I have everything checked to do screenshots... I know where it used to go... and it doesn't go there... I have it checked to upload when I close the game but all it does is make a funny noise when I take a shot in the game and nothing ever happens the screenshots do not go to the folder anymore... not sure what's wrong.

I'm having the same problem. I stopped being able to save screenshots of this game in any way. The last screenshot I was able to take was Aug 31st. I think it has something to do with the 1.35 patch.

I just tested this here, and my test screenshot in photo mode showed up in the regular screenshots directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\nnnnnnnnnn\760\remote\275850\screenshots

where nnnnnnnnnn is a number that probably represents your own session or game instance ID.

No funny noises, just the popup in the lower-right corner of the screen saying that it had saved the screenshot.

Specs:

Intel i7-6700K cpu @ 4.00GHz
24 GB of memory
Win 10 X64
Nvidia GTX 970, 4096 MB GDDR5, driver 381.65
I'm running NMS in bordered windowed mode at 1768x992 resolution.

The camera is a little buggy right now. Sometimes, even tho it makes the clicking noise ingame it doesn't take the picture. Make sure the steam notification pops up in the lower right hand corner of your screen.

Photo Mode screenshots, taken with its own photo hotkey, are stored under C:\Users\[username]\My Pictures\ in either a folder called screenshots or No Mans Sky, I believe.

Others are correct that if taken with Steam's screenshot hotkey they should appear somewhere in the directories they referenced. Hope this helps.

My photo mode shots show up in the standard folder. But there does seem to be a new glitch. There is some lag from when I click the lmb till I hear the shutter and the popup shows. If I do anything between those it seems to cancel the shot, ime.

So I tried again for a Photo Mode screenshot, taken with the photo mode UI which is, according to the text at the bottom of the screen, the left mouse button. It showed up, as before, in the regular Steam screenshot folder. There's no screenshots or No Man's Sky folder in my Pictures directory. I do have the Steam Overlay, whatever that is, enabled in the game's properties but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

It probably does. Given the reported issue, I thought it might be similar to when running the game without Steam, such as via the GOG version.

In that situation, NMS creates a folder under Pictures called No Mans Sky, and saves screenshots as .bmp files. I was writing that post while away from my PC, so my details were a little off there.

However, it sounds like it's a new and different issue altogether, which would probably best be reported.

Confirming this issue continues in 1.38. I never have Steam overlay turned on (not ever). I am online while playing NMS. I take multiple NMS photo mode photos throughout the Artemis Quest storyline (not F12 screenshots). Nothing is saved in
InstallDrive:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\nnnnnn\760\remote\mmmmmm\screenshots
although I have two such directories with different values of mmmmmm, and the same value of nnnnnn.
Nothing is saved in My Documents, My Pictures, or Libraries. There are no nms subfolders anywhere under those headings.

The Steam screenshot uploader obviously doesn't know about them.

They were not magically uploaded to the Steam Community screenshorts area.

I don't object in principle to the integration of in-game photo mode with screenshot handling, but I do expect the in-game feature to work, or if it cannot be configured to work, to report this issue to the user instead of quietly failing.
