I actually like fewer life forms, with no oceans. There are planets where you can get them all in just a few min, and planets where it takes hours. If its taking too long, you have to decide if its time to move on or keep trying.

if helps... use visor to see red dots, just point at water/caves/ground all ways around, and ofc change places on planet cause not all are everywhere, oh , be careful , there might be insects or birds, even small ones

Find planets other players have finished or look for low species counts.

So how did you do it? I have like 30 planets at 80%.

I had a huge problem with this at first, the trick is to make sure you absolutely scan 100% of the Flora on the plaent, rocks, trees, grass, mushrooms, stalagtites, random tiny rocks / flowers on the ground....EVERYTHING. Once you're done with this the last "rare" mobs are usually airborn or large creatures, and you should find them fairly easily afterwards. It's almost like there is a threshhold for scanned Flora, and if you don't have a high enough score certain Fauna will not appear. Hope this helps with your search.

P.S. Not sure if you're aware, but you can scan in the Zinc, Platinum, and Thamium9 plants on every planet. I am not 100% sure if this factors into the fauna threshhold I mentioned, as I have not exactly tested it, but they're easy to find and scan in and may help....couldnt hurt.

I am pretty sure you only get the animals after you scan all the plants and minerals. I have been scanning everything possible. Plants that give elements, search the sky for birds/bugs, search caves and lakes for plants and minerals. Travel around planet and look for different terrain.

When I have a bunch of slots left to fill for plants and minerals, I know I need to fill them first, but I can't find them.

I never scan for plants or rocks unless it happens by accident, and I have finished the animals on many planets.

Like lordoftheapes says, let someone else do the hard work. Get yourself to a well explored area (like the hub) and land on 100% explored planets. You get the cash bonus as well...

Time. It takes a lot of time.

I had the same problem like you, the only way to find the other 20% was to run around the planet until I found every animal
