Steam Deck : Resolution shrunken from 2nd boot
Hello there.

I have a strange behavior on the game on Steam Deck.
On a fresh install, the game fit well the Steam Deck screen and I have no issue. But as soon as I quit the game and relaunch it, the resolution is like shrunken, I can't explain how.
I tried to set manually the resolution in the game properties, or check files integrity, but it doesn't fix the problem. The only way to resolve is to uninstall and reinstall the game. And so, each time I quit the game and want to launch it again lol...

Someone here got this weird thing and was able to fix it ?

Many thanks in advance :)

I had the same issue where the resolution defaults to 720P leaving a black box around the screen. Setting the scaling mode on the Deck to Fill took care of it.

Setting the game to run in borderless windowed mode rather than full-screen mode should also fix it.

Looks like it's working !
Many thanks 😊👍
You guys are literally stretching out the game when you do this. Making everybody/everything look taller than they should. Circles will look like ovals

Instead, use Lyall's DQ3Fix to actually expand the FOV to fullscreen without stretching

Don't use Fullscreen in general on a Steam Deck for JRPGs. They need 16:9 aspect ratio and Steam Deck is not 16:9.

You need to run games in windowed mode, and they will adapt to arbitrary aspect ratio. Borderless Fullscreen takes care of that for you without the game trying and failing to find a 16:9 aspect ratio resolution to change the display to.
