40K Campaign- Looking for a Space marine class mod
As the title states I'm starting a campaign with 40K characters and enemies that are on the workshop but I was curious if there was a mod that adds a class for the space marines. I've looked around and couldn't really find anything solely dedicated to a space marine class but maybe I overlooked it. I don't want them to be completely overpowered but strong enough where they take a hit and be mostly fine but have to actually take cover like others at times. I'm just looking for suggestions to a mod or even a mod that is close to what a space marine class would be.

Dedicated to? I have no idea how that would even work as (I know my 40k lore) marines aren't a class, they're troops that can perform any number of class rolls.
That said, wouldn't be socked if it turns out there is one, I'm just trying to give a reason why the default four classes could easily work for a marine.

Speaking of classes that can work for a marine, there is one modded class I use that would fit the "dude marching forward gunning everyone down with bolter fire" classic image of a space marine very well.

A blend between that classic space marine and one that needs cover would be perfect, like where they can step out and be that walking tank they're known for but being able to get hurt too. I'll give that mod a shot, looks pretty close to what i'm looking for.

Check out Ballistic Shields, if you have one equipped it lets you be walking cover essentially.

There's also the W.A.R. suit that you get later on in game that does basically what you want as it turns the soldier into a tank with the shieldwall ability. If you want it earlier in the game you can use the console command

additem HeavyPoweredArmor #

Where # = the number you want

Oh I didn't even know I could do that, I'll give that a shot too.

Just going to play devil's advocate on the WAR suit for the shieldwall ability it gets that is, to put it politely, worthless.
All it does is let your soldier act as a piece of high cover for someone standing behind them.

If you active at you can't shoot that turn, at least not without removing the effect so the one using them as cover, is now no longer in cover.
Further it doesn't do anything to help the one using it, it neither gives high cover to the one using it nor helps them in anyway should the enemy target them.
Finally, if the enemy sees two troops standing next to each other their first though is going to be "grenade out!". Or any of the many other, often worse, AoE abilities they have access to.

They see use becayse people can finally spare the resources to buy them and because they offer better stats than the E.X.O. Suit before them. No one in their right mind uses it for that ability.

----

Otherwise, yes, for the first third of the game this thing basically turns them into a dude in terminator armor.
Then more like a space marine for the second third.
By the last third....? Eh, basically everyone of both sides is like a space marine by that point. Your guys are just better at looking the part :steammocking:.

----

Oh, also had a quick thought (before I forget after all that :steamfacepalm:). A voice pack for your sparks that may help them fit in better.

Oh okay, I haven't had the time to give it a shot quite yet but I'll keep that in mind. Also that mod is an immediate subscribe, dreadnoughts are awesome.

So, have you tried Mechanicus? It's basically like XCOM where you're techpriests investigating a Necron tomb. It's quite fun. Not as fun as XCOM 2, but I enjoyed it more than Phoenix Point.

I've heard and seen some things about it but haven't given it a try myself, it does look pretty interesting.

Main differences to this game are the lack of troop customisation, but they all come with detailed personalities (and they bicker like a bunch of old women :steamhappy:).
Some good news, there's no to-hit percentages, so if you shoot the enemy you will hit.
Some bad news, there's no to-hit percentages, so if the enemy shoot you, you will get hit.

It does sound pretty fun, I'm still pretty new to 40k and have been looking for more to actually play that has to do with it (I saw one 40k mod on the Xcom workshop which started this thread lol) but I think I'll actually give that a try. It sounds and looks pretty fun.

If you're looking to scratch a 40k itch I'll just point you towards the Dawn Of War games.
I still play the first one (with all the extras) to this day, can't get enough of the guard voice lines to the point I put them into this game.
I.e.

Second one wasn't bad, but just couldn't scratch that itch like the first could so I haven't played as much of it.
Never played the third.
