That said, wouldn't be socked if it turns out there is one, I'm just trying to give a reason why the default four classes could easily work for a marine.
Speaking of classes that can work for a marine, there is one modded class I use that would fit the "dude marching forward gunning everyone down with bolter fire" classic image of a space marine very well.

Check out Ballistic Shields, if you have one equipped it lets you be walking cover essentially.

There's also the W.A.R. suit that you get later on in game that does basically what you want as it turns the soldier into a tank with the shieldwall ability. If you want it earlier in the game you can use the console command
Where # = the number you want
All it does is let your soldier act as a piece of high cover for someone standing behind them.
If you active at you can't shoot that turn, at least not without removing the effect so the one using them as cover, is now no longer in cover.
Further it doesn't do anything to help the one using it, it neither gives high cover to the one using it nor helps them in anyway should the enemy target them.
Finally, if the enemy sees two troops standing next to each other their first though is going to be "grenade out!". Or any of the many other, often worse, AoE abilities they have access to.
They see use becayse people can finally spare the resources to buy them and because they offer better stats than the E.X.O. Suit before them. No one in their right mind uses it for that ability.

Otherwise, yes, for the first third of the game this thing basically turns them into a dude in terminator armor.
Then more like a space marine for the second third.
By the last third....? Eh, basically everyone of both sides is like a space marine by that point. Your guys are just better at looking the part

Oh, also had a quick thought (before I forget after all that

Some good news, there's no to-hit percentages, so if you shoot the enemy you will hit.
Some bad news, there's no to-hit percentages, so if the enemy shoot you, you will get hit.
I still play the first one (with all the extras) to this day, can't get enough of the guard voice lines to the point I put them into this game.
I.e.

Second one wasn't bad, but just couldn't scratch that itch like the first could so I haven't played as much of it.
Never played the third.
