Female-only protag in the future?

So, the main character is male. Feminists, SJW, and in the minority, female players that just want to play with a female character, complain about the lack of one.

Instead of adding one, Chris himself stated in his Twitter that he is going to make the main char female only. Isn't that a bit hypocritical? You're basically taking the food off of one mouth to give to the other. While the other will stop crying, the original one will start. You're not solving anything. Dig your head out of the sand and do the sensible choice. Let people choose. You're just going to shoot your own foot with this one.

Or make the character genderless. Or add 247 genders, includng the famous attack helicopter, if you want to appease to the SJW's so much.

I speak as a true fan of this game and the work of Unknown Worlds. But if this game keeps getting pnched by all this nonsense, I'm not sure I'm going to keep supporting it.

Also, just to throw it out there once more, just for the sake of it. Firing an employee over political beliefs is nothing short of dictatorial.

That's for the DLC. You get a male character for the main game and a female for the DLC. What exactly is the problem?

He claimed he is going to make the main character female only for the expansion as he regretted making him male in the main game. Unless the expansion isn't related to the main game and is a separate story itself, its just going to be a move thats going to elicit even more problems for this awesome game.

Whether related or not it's not the same character so why would they both have to be male?

Being the same character or not is still not known. If the expansion is a separate story, no problem. But if the DLC is just an added biome on the world map, well, I could see this turning really ugly.

From Subnautica wiki: "Ryley will not serve as the protagonist in Subnautica's Expansion, instead being replaced by a currently unnamed female character.[1]" the "1" links to a tweet from Charlie Cleveland that I cannot see so he might have confirmed it at a point.

Stop being a whiner and just enjoy the game as it is. I dont care whether the character is male or female, as long as its a fun game. Just enjoy it as it is.

I enjoy the game, and I culdn't care more. I'm just making it a point that people will come back to whining, and the community will grow even more toxic. The complete opposite of what we as a whole, want.

Anyone that knows me, knows I'm a big sucker for this game.

Tbh, I couldn't care either way if my character was male or female, the game doesn't focus much on the playable character (aside from the disease) and is more focused on immersing the player themselves into the game. I sometimes forget that my character even exists until he makes some kind of noise from being hurt or other things.

That being said, if I had a say in the development, i'd wish for a selection for either female or male.

Couldn't he just have made the protagonist trans, so that everybody would have been happy? (I guess...? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with their thoughts, but making someone trans sounds like a fair deal to no one, so it is balanced. Although, women are very stronk and have been out to sea and ridden submarines into the depths since time immemorial, so I kind of see why he wants to make her a wymen, too).

sci-fi movies are loaded with female protagonists. It's not some virtuous gender representation by the creators any more. Besides male movie goers like seeing attractive women lead characters, so it's also being done for money.

It's kind of cliche now, but I don't have a big problem with the change to a female lead. Now if they turn the game into Gone Home .....
