Blood decals and not overlay
I am really hoping that in SS4, they will finally add true blood decals that appear on the enemy models where you injure them and not the general bloody overlay from all the other titles (save SS2 which had neither). Looks like 4 is still just Serious Engine 3.5 though so I doubt it. But still.

all shooter games must have this feature:lunar2019coolpig:

SS4 doesn't use SE3.5 but upgraded 4.x engine that Fusion uses. According to Discord channel here link [discordapp.com] they are still working on the engine and who knows it might come true but I wouldn't hold my breath :/

I'm not 100% sure of which changes happened regarding injuries and/or splatters, but I know they were worked on extensively in the past couple of months.

The engine is vastly improved from the last game that was released, and this includes VR games. Again, I'm not sure what changes were introduced, but I'm sure we'll talk about them leading up to game release.

Yeah we can't see how much the engine was improved. The example would be porting a Valve game from Source 1 to Source 2. You would notice only new bugs and better fps (SS Fusion anyone?). Textures, animations and models would remain the same. We have to wait and see what SS4 will bring cause that's the first real game (not a port like ss1 and ss3 in fusion) made from scratch on new Serious Engine.

Agreed.

Also the engine that Fusion uses have been decoupled from SS4's engine a year or so ago, so not even Fusion shows the current state of SS4's engine.

Fusion wouldn't be able to showcase many new elements as it doesn't really use them.
There have been some benefits from Sam 4 development in fusion, such as API support, optimizations, shadow quality and such. But that's a needle in a haystack to be honest.
Laki 4. Dez. 2019 um 13:02
Hopefully the improvements will be easy to notice when Fusion joins SS4's engine.

Will it be recoupled again before SS4's release? In fact, will be anything done with Fusion before that?

I hope that remasters (which I hope are still coming) will use them. At least some of them.

Like skyboxes...? Hah, I'm joking. Maybe.
Laki 4. Dez. 2019 um 13:33
The remasters are the only things that would keep me on Fusion cause otherwise it's the same game like og sshd and bfe but buggier and it needs stronger pc.
Laki 5. Dez. 2019 um 3:01
Graphically it's the same except the new bloom system. Textures for hd tfe and hd tse should get a rework in remasters in 2K and 4K resolutions compared to textures from 2001 and 2009.
Terepin (Ausgeschlossen) 5. Dez. 2019 um 3:31
Yeah, those textures from 2001 let me scratching my head like "Did they run out of money or something?"
IIIIDANNYIIII  [Entwickler] 5. Dez. 2019 um 4:09
Fusion is handled separately now. SS4 and Fusion have been split some time ago and continue existing as individual entities.

Skyboxes for Fusion will not be changed.
Terepin (Ausgeschlossen) 5. Dez. 2019 um 4:23
Will be they re-merged when SS4 will be released?

Changed as in not making them dynamic, or changed is in keeping the same skies?

I think merging would totally break Fusion so I think they will stay separated forever.
