Game time going super slow
Hi. I got a problem. My game goes super slow, and its not the fps, that for the amount of assets and dlc is more than acceptable, but the game it self goes super slow. In particular the city I'm building is not more than 1200 population, and at first is completely running smooth and normal, but after some time it slows down immediately. Help!! Could it be a mod or a game bug? Thx

You have 3 speeds, 1 slow, 2 medium, and 3 fast
Just use your buttons on the keyboard with 1,2, or 3

If that is not the problem it could be your RAM or maybe the graphic card.
Have you updated your graphic driver?

How big is your RAM? You might need a pagefile.

Does it slow down the longer the game has been running? Even if the city isn't growing?

Are you using any workshop content or is the game completely vanilla?

Slowdown can also mean that other process(application, web browser/antivirus) in the background is doing resource intensive task and has higher priority.
On the other hand if CPU is running 100% lags may be caused by thermal throttling (motherboard is automatically lowering CPU frequency to help cooling)

There is only two things that slow down time on the game.

agents roaming your map. as you reach your 80k agent limit, the game slows down time. If you hit one of the two agent limits, then the game will slow down earlier. Usually the vehicle limit first. as it is only 16k.

The other way is CPU limit. The game can take full advantage of a 4-core/8-thread CPU. So if you have less cores/threads, then the game will max out early. The game will be running 100% cpu usage.

I guess there is a third, and that is time mods. But the AI is the limiting factor on managing agents, so it affects game speed the most.

Also broken node (causing infinite loop on simulation thread) may considerably slow simulation and you can use to find node causing problem (sometimes more than one) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1777173984

have you even tried the pagefile?

How increasing page file affect simulation speed? I don't get it, really.

the system has then more resources available and will put any non-urgent stuff into the pagefile. That means you have more actual RAM available. The game can run smoother.

That said if it is the agent limit than this wouldn't help.

Im having this issue again. My cpu is clocking 100% which is ofldd. I disabled system main and windows search and now its back down but the slow thing is effecting all my maps, even new ones with nothing there. I have a 76gb page file, 32gb ram and a ryzen 7 8 core. I do however have a 1tb hdd which i ghink is where thevissue is but my game was working fine for the last 3 weeks (thats a record for me!).

Try Broken Nodes Detector linked above.

If you have TM:PE, go to Options, TM:PE > Maintenance and hit the Reset Stuck Vehicles and Cims button, see if that makes a difference. I had a city where something happened to it that caused a major slowdown and it turned out to be stuck cims, and hitting that button got me perf back for a while. I used the More Shortcuts Mod to map Ctrl-Alt-C to the Reset Stuck Cims button so when the game started to slow down, instead of having to go back to options and find the button, I just press Ctrl-Alt-C.

If that helped, try Broken Nodes Detector, it has Stuck sims detector so instead of resetting the "problem timer" you can actually find the source of stuck cims.
