Quay + road help
So, Im trying to create a waterfront city but I can't make the roads and the quays to work together. No matter if I build roads first or quays first, they refuse to be on the same level.
Are there any tools/mods or maybe even maps with premade quays I can use? I tried one map called "Canals" but I had the same problem there

Quays really need to be placed on low-level land. Maybe you can post a screenshot of the problmes you are having ?

As you can see below, my ferry docks sit on the quay wall and the roads are at the same height.

I had immense difficulty with this before, and the move it mod isn't really helpful.

Basically, I found that I had to level the terrain on both quays to the same height as each other before building any roads or quays. I would do the quays first, and then build roads alongside them. Then I would do the bridges.

I would recommend getting road anarchy mod to help you with the bridges, because it really is a pain without it.

Yep, pretty sure I placed the quay first. You can then lay the road parallel to the quay.
The above screenshot was from vanilla game, so done without the use of either mod mentioned above.

I'll have to try leveling the ground under, thou I find that tool very confusing, I can't seem to get it to work the way I want it to, this game is honestly too dificult sometimes, I want to enjoy it as a chill game to play on my freetime but I can't really seem to like it tbh
Thanks for the answers thou

The terran tools do take a bit of getting used to.
The first one will simply raise or lower ground. LMB to raise, RMB to lower.
The second allows you to make an area all the same height. RMB to set the height and LMB to apply that to the area you want leveled out.
The third one allows you to smooth out the ground.
The forth one I still struggle with (but getting better). This allows you to create a slope between two points. Set one slope end point with RMB. Then move the mouse to the other end of the slope and hold LMB while dragging the mouse back to create the slope.

To the left are icons which control strength and area of effect of the above actions. I generally have these at the weakest strength and smallest size as I mostly fiddle with small areas at a time.

I tried making the whole area the same height but for some reason I can't do that where the quay is, the road is build on an area where I managed to get the ground and quay the same height, still this happens

You literally need to flatten the whole area first. You probably also need to remove the quay before levelling the ground. Roads follow the contour of the land so even one 'isobar' of gradient will cause a road to go up/down hill.

I tried doing that aswell, but the tools are really confusing, first nothing happens and then BAM huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crater
Thanks for trying to help but I gave up on this, I want to like this game but there are so many things making me hate it and I really can't be bothered with it anymore

Parallel Road Tool is the absolute easiest way to do this.

Alternately you can use Move It. It can align the height of things (and a bunch of other handy stuff), which is super useful.

I would use Quay Anarchy and then Move-IT Mod and the rest is easy
