Oh my, no, this week's Challenge is not for newish players. I'm just through my first try, and this was really tight and awkward, on purpose, I'm sure ;-). I'll be redoing my try later in the week sometime, hoping for better success...
I do think that the Weekly Challenges are (primarily) intended for people who have played long enough to be quite familiar with the different map types, and so far have had their little 'quirks' of some kind, intended I guess, to test us a bit. But as for quite high %-s anyway, I think that's bc many people aren't playing the game with thought for the scoring, much, but mostly for what looks nice. So they'll play fairly 'blindly' until they run out of map-pieces or playable cards, and get stuck around halfway somewhere, and then just start a new one.
Which of course, is a valid way to play it too - it's very pretty :-)

Hi, saw your cmt on Discord. I'm staying away from there for a while now. But just wanted to say that I think it sounds like a good tactic, to take it more step-by-step, and getting a good feel for each map-size in each biome before moving on. Rather than spreading oneself too thin and forgetting what works where. If you feel very stuck somewhere and in dire need of help, then I check out the Steam forum discussions regularly , or feel free to leave a comment for me on my profile, and I can take a look at a screenshot or whatever ;-)

Hi mbutton, I just came across a 'hidden gem' that might be up your street too (inbetween your intense DorfRomantik points gatherings!!).
Looks a bit like shop management, but isn't really, nor 'witchy cute' either, thankfully (personal dislikes) . It’s medieval-ish, soothing, and as challenging as you want. A lot of freedom of choice in how to solve, who to please... Basically making potions according to different orders, with lots of mundane and hugely weird ingredients, plus a number of tools. Has endless mode too.Not picked up much, so no achievements for your profile …

But a lot of fun :-)

I was pleasantly surprised by this (after braving their Discord for some starting help - so thanks for boosting me earlier on trying Discord).
If in doubt - the review by Dohi64 gives a very thorough description - and Dohi is difficult to please, so praise is not lightly given ;-)

Thanks for your suggestions - will check them out for sure. I had a look at your profile too, and guessing you're more into big/long games than me (my potato laptop tends to fry at anything heavier than ~5GB, haha). But if you're minded to try something a little lighter, my faves this winter have been 'Cherry Creek' (pipe puzzler type. The 'impossible' level isn't impossible, just nicely challenging).
And 'A Little To The Left' is shortish (get on sale if you can) but fun - and a good fit for people who like pattern recognition puzzles. (They've fixed the few earlier ach's bugs, and moved the max down from 365 days to 100 - so should be good even for 100%-ers now.) Happy games!
