I'm glad I wasn't the only person to have missed that change :) I only found out by chance very recently while watching a 7DTD video on Youtube.
Something else that might be worth mentioning - the workstation has to be empty before it can be picked up and without any work queued in it. That's mostly an issue with the forge, since you have to unprocess any material you had processed in it then reprocess it after moving the forge. Bit of a bother and it can take ages if you have a lot of processed material in it.
To avoid confusion… the forge does not have to be empty before it can be picked up. The game won’t stop you from doing that. But you’ll want to get the material out first, so that it’s not lost on pickup.
