Storage box paint

Is it no longer possible to paint storage boxes with the Food, Medic, Ammo, Supply etc general symbols? Writing words on the boxes is nice but the icons were very useful.

Please tell me I'm missing something and The Pimps didn't actually dip into their Well of Genius and remove this feature too. I've got to be overlooking something. There's no way they actually took this out. Maybe I haven't unlocked it?

Yeah it's no longer possible as the old storage boxes were "decomissioned"
From what i recall the square shaped cupboards can still be painted tho and act as a storage.

But have nowhere near enough storage space compared to boxes.

Well that sucks. The word labeling does look a little better compared to attaching wooden signs, but it was still nice to have the symbol option. Especially in my main storage area where I pretty much had every box memorized anyway. I hope they bring it back.

I agree it was nice, but those icons were implemented in a way that took up significant space on the block texture atlas - a giant ‘quilt’ of textures that has to be loaded in memory at all times.

I would like to see a few font choices for signs & other writable blocks, like a formal serif font, one for government road signs, and scrawled graffiti. This would look better than the basic 1 m high letters used now for everything from commercial signage to “get out” warnings on survivor encampments. Those big letters have served the game well but they’re one of the few remaining Minecraft-style immersion breakers.

Maybe they can add emoji support, and we can just use that to put all sorts of icons on our boxes.
