change POI loot mod or setting?
so ive ben playing this game for a week now with a few friends and i was wondering if there is a way to make loot better from POIs? people say to not bother till level 80 with looting and just do trader stuff, but thats quite boring. we want to explore and scavange and thats what we have ben doing so far. now we are around level 40 and barely got iron stuff. now we went into the big tower in the wasteland city and struggled quite a bit but we made it up in the end. we spend a good amount of effort in getting up there and all we got was a lvl 1 steel shovel and a m60 blueprint. the rest was just stuff we already have a bunch of. so whats going on? why is POI loot so trash? even this really big one? and is there a way to make it better? like a mod or something to change in a config?

Loot is tied to your LOOTSTAGE. It's not really a level thing other than, as you level, your gamestage rises and that's part of it, but, it's also tied to the biome you're in, the POI you're looting and a few other things. The point is to have fun and if you have fun looting, don't let anything stand in your way! Traders are good for sending you to new and fun POIs in other places as you get higher level. Sometimes they give good loot as reward. Usually, though, loot is closer to your actual abilities and will level as you get better, get into harder areas, kill harder zombies.

It's staged this way because, before, people would bypass the effort required killing the zombies and exploring a large POI and just nerd pole up to the mega loot. That's not really fair to the players who work hard at getting there, so they're trying to balance it. It's not perfect, but it's a work in progress.

It sounds like you’d enjoy a more intense experience by turning up the XP gain setting. This will mean you level up faster, which will raise your loot stage faster. The game will also throw tougher enemies at you sooner, because the two are linked: risks and rewards progress in tandem. But since you’re already tackling skyscrapers in the wasteland, it sounds like you’re ready for a steeper progression curve.

You can also focus on loot more specifically, with skills, clothing, and/or candy that give you a loot bonus.

yah i know about the lootstage :) i watched a small video about loot and stuff. i can see how people can cheese the loot system by just building up. i guess it just dosnt feel too worth it doing these POIs for meager rewards fully through.

we barely managed the skyscraper but it was a lot of fun to have this kind of struggle, to not feel like we are op and just farming for more loot like in other survival games. i guess the 15fps we had while climbing in there also made it more tense lol. iam not sure if we can deal with stronger enemies yet, blood moons are still a struggle with 3 people and the amount of lag that those amounts of zombies create. we tried to split up the skills a bit since we are 3 people but no one has any better looting things yet, i guess they would be under perception or agility right? we just really like exploring interesting things. we also try to keep it in a survival kinda sense. we boarded up a electrical shop and made a base in there instead of building something from scratch and try to keep it a bit "realistic" :)

This is all good! Really, farming for loot is as much part of the fun as exploring/building/etc. When you find interesting new POIs and cool looking places that you're curious about, looting them means risking your life (especially the big military places) but sometimes give pretty nice rewards. Better stuff in higher level biomes.... Green/Desert/Snow/Wasteland, like that. The one skill that will give you better loot is in Perception but you can also wear looting goggles that add to loot stage, and there is a candy you can buy from the vending machines that will give a fair chunk, as well. As long as you put all that looting perks and candy on a single person and that person opens all your big loot, it will pay off. Makes it sorta less fun for others, but, if you really like doing stuff together, it will work well until you get high enough for everyone to have those points.
