Map
Goodnight.

I would like to know what these darkest areas of the map mean.
I mark them in red, to be clear.
Are they areas where there are more minerals underground? Or does that darker pigmentation mean nothing?

Thank you.

PD: I don't know how to upload an image to the forum ... xD Can someone help me?

if it's singular squares, a few pixels across, those are usually surface boulders and ore nodes. Ore will always have a vein beneath it of the same type and possibly more.

No no, it's not that. That if I know how to identify it.
Do you know how I can upload an image here? So I can show what I say ...
Thank you.

I believe its F12 in the steam overlay, then when you save the image to your library you can copy the link and past it here like this

So basically go into the game, take the screenshots, then exit. A window should pop up to show the images you took and you can upload them from there.

No, I need to upload an image as if it were not from steam. Because it is a screenshot that I modified to indicate the area that I want to know what it is.
I don't know, I can upload it to imgur, but then I don't know how to put it here. And most importantly, if you can put an image from Imgur in this forum.

Steascree is what you want. I use it to upload pics to Steam once in a great while if I want a preview forum image link vs. a text link to my own webservers, since I never use Steam's built-in overlay/screenshot function.

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/steascree

Edit: other than that, you could use something like imgur and just text-link it here. You just copy paste the URL into your post. It won't have the thumbnail image tho, that is a Steam feature. They don't allow image embedding from other places.

Well, since I don't understand how this "Steascree" thing is going, I'm going to put the imgur link directly and voila!
I update the first message with the image. That in the end this thread will seem like an aid to upload images, when in reality it is to know what those areas are in the game.
Thank you.

I see now. It looks like the old way of showing were clay deposits are on the map. BUT... clay (or clay soil) is found everywhere regardless. Might just be a greater concentration of clay in those areas, thats all I can think of.

My guess would be some kind of indication re: extra density of grass/trees and general foliage - but not a very accurate indicator.

Other than that, no clue.

Yes, now the clay is all over the map, in the most superficial part. I don't think it's that, because in another map it was a very elongated and thin shape, as if it were a "vein" of mineral.
I believe that it may indicate an area rich in mineral. In other words, if you dig there, you will find all kinds of resources. But that's just a guess of mine. Let's see if any mod or any dev can tell us exactly what it is.
Thank you.

Do note that actual ore deposits on the surface are now showing on your map as single pixels of color. Red pixels are iron, white pixels are nitrate, black and gray are coal and lead. I've not noted what deposits of shale look like, though.

Yes, I know that, thank you.
Therefore, my theory is that this could be an area rich in minerals of all kinds, deep in the ground. Instead of the small deposits, which are marked with small pixels on the surface.
But I don't know, something will have to mean those darker tones, that dark pigmentation, in different areas of the map. That image that I put is an example, but there are all over the map. And it's nothing from the surface ... Because if you go to that area, you don't see anything different. No concentration of trees, or anything. So I think it has to be something from under the ground.

My theory is that those shaded areas are showing elevation changes. The low hill in the first screenshot corresponds to the area on the map indicated by the red arrow in the second. It appears to follow the elevation contours. Maybe it's to make gentle elevation changes more obvious.

To upload a modified screenshot, just edit it before uploading it. The full size image will be your edited version. You can also re-create the thumbnail before uploading but I think the full size version is good enough. You can also upload images as "Artwork".

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

I've been looking at it and checking it, and it's not what you're saying. There are totally flat areas, which also have this darker pigmentation. I'm sure it's not something that reflects the surface of the ground. No changes in height, no vegetation, no trees, or anything like that ... I've checked. I'd say it has to be something from below the surface. One of these days, I'm going to try to go to one of these areas, one that is large, and start digging like crazy. Well, if before a mod or a dev does not tell us what it is exactly.

And thanks for explaining how to upload photos or modified images.

Greetings.
