How to upgrade weapon/tool quality?

How do i upgrade the levels on weapons/tools, i'm still learning in the game so just wondering how i do it?

You can't upgrade the tool level, you get the perk that ties to that tool (pummel pete for clubs as an example) and that lets you craft them at higher tiers.

This is a tad irrelevant though because players aren't able to craft the highest tier (6) and these can only be found via looting

I wouldn’t say irrelevant, since progressing through tiers 1->2->3->4->5 still means better stats on average and more mod slots. Only at endgame does one scoff at anything that’s not tier 6.

Ye it's not completly worthless (seeing as the perks that grant the ability to craft tools make those tools better as well) just trying to say that late game (which I def should have specified like you) you really don't care about crafting tools
