Um, maybe cos its fun and the point to the game. If people don't like it then they are playing the wrong game. Its simple, if you don't like fighting a horde of zombies every 7 days then don't play a game that is designed around fighting a horde of zombies every 7 days. Its irrelevant what XP you get.
You're either stupid....or just stupid.
My complaint here is that in A16 there was actual reason to fight the hordes, because they were rewarding, providing you with experience and decent loot.
Now, in the current A17 EXP build, zombie experience has been nerfed, and you might get a couple loot bags per 50+ zombies...that contain crap food or crap weapons.
That is a complete downgrade in reward for surviving the hardest night in the entire game.
Players shouldnt have to edit xml files to get rewards for doing what the game wants you to do.
My issue is not with having to fight hordes every day.
My issue is not being rewarded for doing so.
By day 10...
Ouin, ouin, ouin, boriiing
My containers are filled with awesome loot (now crap because so common...)
Why kill hordes, ive everything multiple times...
You're rewarded by keeping your base intact from being destroyed by a Horde. That's good enough.
There was a reason already; the namesake of the game. Surviving each 7th day. Keeping your base up from being wrecked.
Loot? Irrelevant as that's everywhere.
Experience? Irrelevant as that was gotten from anywhere. True that in this regard "good" experience is tied to zombie kills, but perhaps the devs got tired of people circumventing what they wanted the game to be. Surviving against zombies, not using them as a free "lootfest" or just avoid them (may as well disable them altogether if that's the case).
You're either stupid.. or just stupid. Maybe incompetent. The devs have a vision, too. It's not all about what [you] want to see. Don't like that they prioritize their vision and allow some feedback to alter some things? Move on to another game then. You're owed.. nothing. Zip.
Great....so I can build a nerd pole with some walls on it, a door, and a ramp placed 3 blocks from the door...and never lose my base....
Ive beaten the game by day one.....so much fun it should be a crime....
If that's the case...why bother playing the game at all? Cause there are literally 100s of other games that have far better reward systems for keeping a base intact.
If you want to exploit the game and evade gameplay it is your call Game is full of exploits.
If you roleplay then you roleplay and dont skip anything.
and if you talking multiplayer pvp it is retarded anyway. You will not force the people not to cheat. And game has just to many holes to fix in single patch.
You don't "beat the game", for starters. Trying to even implement that as an argument is incompetent at best, no matter what point you thought you were making.
Secondly, neglecting any base will case you to lose it. No matter how decent you think your design is.
Third? You don't need to be rewarded for keeping your base intact. Know what your reward is? Not having to fix it back up from all kinds of hell. Period. That said, you're more than welcome to move on if there are so many better games that you really think reward you as well as you claim.
-Edited for typo
I mean....there are even games that do dying better lol...Hell...there are games where the entire point is to find ways to kill yourself....
But ok. So lets say I've built a ground level structure by day 7. First horde comes around. By every account that I have seen on the forums here, the forums on the official site, and on youtube videos, that horde is near 100% guaranteed to break through a non-exploit base on a SP world, all because TFP thought zombies needed a damage multiplier when hitting the same block....I guess because 5 zombies hitting the same block didnt already do enough damage.
So, they break through the base, and I have to run to live.
Whelp...there goes Nomadic's reason for hordes.....to make a base that can survive them. Far as I can see, people have reported even steel being easily destroyed by day 21+ hordes because of the damage multiplier.
So....now I have to run for my life....or if im lucky, have had killed enough zombies (now more than last EXP version) to unlock and build a bicycle.
The only way to outrun zombies on the bike is to sprint pedal. So, at some point my stamina will run out, and i will be mauled to death.
So....there goes simply surviving hordes.
Which only leaves fighting 7 day hordes worth a death. So what, the whole point of the game goes from being a zombie survival crafting game...to a game about building bases that likely wont survive unless you cheese the AI somewhere in it, or simply just dying and cutting your losses.....
Like what??
I mean...are people seriously buying in to that BS? Cause that is what that is.....BS.
so maybe (and it sucks I know) just wait till the tweaks are done? or sign up on the official forums and tell them what you don't like so they can hear and take it into consideration.
also there was a time zombies NEVER dropped anything good NOR gave xp... we still found reasons to play then
- zombies block damage has been reduced
- exp for digging like a16 is back
- slower gamestage progression
- increased exp for upgrading blocks
and you can choose between keep vanilla zombie exp + the exp the mod gives you or get the version where zombies give half exp than vanilla.
you can find a link in the modding sub forum
Just because you don't like it doesn't meant it's BS.
-Damage is controlled by you. Up the block resistance if you don't like it. Solved.
-It doesn't take much to kill zombies. Never needed to be solved but solved them attacking your base.
-Too fast for you? Make them walk. Solved.
-Still don't like damage multipliers that some are okay with? Learn to edit the .xml files yourself. Solved.
-With a good setup and a little competence, you can thoroughly eliminate Hordes being able to break into your base. Use your head a bit. Solved.
-Guess what? As far as we know, our survivors obviously are basic people. Using enough leg work will tire you out, too, if you're not a professional marathon cyclist. Solved.
So, I repeat: just because you don't like it (and now I'll add aren't adequate at base design), doesn't mean it's bad. Its it flawed? Yes, to a point. Perhaps it was wrong of TFP to expect their playerbase to be somewhat competent. You can never expect or hope for too much these days.
You can get past the first few hordes by just sitting on a large building or taking over and tossing some defense at a random POI.
The point of the hordes is as the main threat to your survival...they arent in the game to bring you Christmas presents.
While you can get by the early ones easy enough by day 21-28 you should probably have something more substancial than hiding on a large building figured out to deal with them.
