right click the game -> Properties -> Beta tab -> select the version you want to play. It'll stay on that version until you select the options of a new one or Keep Game Up to Date.

don't know what to tell you then, since those are the exact steps necessary to re-install an older version. Depending on how far back you try going, some of the really old versions don't work at all ( 8, 9 etc )

There is a way to play even the older ones or most of them. Maybe a mod can pop in and put the instructions up. Unless I am mistaken, someone else went back to A9 or 10 and said something about it, too.

I read somewhere that some older versions don't launch through steam, you have to go to the game folder and launch the exe yourself, maybe worth a try.

How do you make it where you can play any of them without having some thing popping up saying you can’t.

Can you be a little more clear on what is popping up saying you can't? A screenshot would help a lot.

You may be trying to play a saved game from version x while version y is installed, which won’t work. Start a new game under that version if you don’t have any. If that’s not the problem, please clarify “some thing popping up saying you can’t.”

Is it possible to have a couple of different versions installed simultaneously?

My particular use case - I'd like to play an old save which is based on A19 on my own, but I'd like to play A21 with Darkness Falls mod with a friend. But please keep the answer generic for those people reading this post years from now.

Quite the rez indeed, but yes. I've done it myself. Have Steam update or downgrade to the version you want, then copy the entire game directory to a different folder or drive.

From there, launch the game from the .exe within the folder itself (or create a custom shortcut) , not the Steam launcher. Reinstall a 2nd time through Steam, and switch back to the current version and boom. Two separate installs, two different Alphas.

There are some who have multiple installs done in a similar fashion.

Once the Alpha 21 version is done, will we be able to use the Teragon map creator with UL?

Would probably have to ask the respective mod authors themselves if the two can be integrated.

This is a 5 year old thread. Also, you can't run older versions using the launcher because the launcher was not created yet when those versions were released. Navigate to the installation folder and run the game directly from the 7daystodie.exe,
