Bow/Cross Bow parts

Does anyone know how to get bow/cross bow parts? I am very confused, it seems that you can only get them from scrapping crossbows, but you need them to build and repair cross bows in the first place?

Yes, you can get them from scrapping the same weapons, but also, you can find the parts at traders or in loot.

You repair them with repair kits.

but how to build from scratch? or you just cant do that now?

You have to have several sets of the parts in your inventory, and have the right perk or have read the schematic, whichever applies.

Archery, for example is the perk for bows and crossbows. The more points in archery you have, the higher tier quality of bows and crossbows you can craft.

So you can scrap the lower tier ones you have found, and use the parts for higher quality ones you can craft, once you have enough perk points.

thanks for your help, so does that mean that you would need to find 6 cross bows in order to build a new one, how many parts do you get for scrapping one crossbow?

You are welcome. The quality level of what you can craft "might" require more parts. Of that, I am not sure. Pretty sure the poor quality (tier 2) only requires 3 sets of parts.

Go in the skill menu and click on archery, under the agility tree. There it tells you what bow or crossbows you can craft, depending on which level of the perk you have.

So it's a good idea to save the low quality bows and crossbows and not just sell them, if you are going to take points in archery.

EDIT..I think you get three sets of parts when scrapping. That might vary, too. Not sure.

You are quite welcome. Hope all that is pretty accurate, as they keep making changes to the game, but most of the core features like this are pretty much constant so far as I know.

The higher tier of bow you're trying to craft, the more parts you'll require. Unfortunately you cannot craft bow parts. They can only be obtained by scrapping existing bows. I'm, personally, a little iffy on this. It's somewhat disappointing to put points into a skill -- getting excited about the new weapon you're going to build -- and realize you can't really make use of it (due to the missing parts).

Be sure to loot those Shotgun Messiahs! That's the only place I've been able to somewhat reliably find weapon parts.
