Process Priority/Affinity: Access Denied (Even with Third Party Apps)
Cannot change Priority/Affinity of 7DaysToDie.exe client - bit of a problem, as although this system is a beast, I've gotta keep some things running on it that seem to interfere with 7DaysToDie when they share the same CPU. I've even tried doing it via some third party apps, such as Prio, Processes Explorer, and setting up rules with Bill's Process Manager. Access Denied. Might be related to EAC, not sure - seems I can change priority on it when I launch the executable directly, but I cannot connect to EAC servers that way.

Unrelated, but if any of your regular forum[7daystodie.com] moderators see this, please log out and try to create a new account. I think you'll find the system is quite broken. In addition to the capctcha taking me 50 tries to complete (though that may just be me getting old), the Steam Linker kept returning errors, and though the message says to PM one of the forum mods, one apparently cannot do this as a fresh member, so there's no recourse to be had to get to a state where you can post.

Meh, near as I can tell, this is indeed an EAC issue, so I guess I need to find their forums and complain there. I expect security theater for anti-virus software, but for simple gaming software, this is kinda ridiculous.

In case someone else runs across this, one thing I've tried but not gotten around to testing is using the Windows registry/policy to force a priority. I know this works for some AV software. Methodology more or less covered yonder:

Originally posted by "Some Other Forum":
EAC is for some reason blocking the ability to change priority for **** in Task Manager. But thankfully, after 1 hour research i found a way to bypass it. These are the steps:

Open the Registry Editor by typing "regedit" (no quotes) into the Windows search bar

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options

Right click on this folder and create a new key called "****.exe" (no quotes) [For us this would be 7DaysToDie.exe]

Right click on the new ****.exe folder and. create a key called "PerfOptions" (no quotes)

Right click on the new PerfOptions folder and create a new DWORD (32 bit) called "CpuPriorityClass" (no quotes)

Double click on CpuPriorityClass in the right hand window and change the value to 3

CpuPriorityClass Values:
1 Idle
2 Normal
3 High
4 RealTime (n.a.)
5 Below Normal
6 Above Normal

I’ve flagged this post for the moderators to review regarding your registration on 7daystodie.com. Hopefully we can figure out what’s going on.

Thanks, you were the one I was attempting to PM, oddly enough. I see several similar complaints in the 7D2D Discord. Seems maybe someone actually took a stab at it and broke something though, as now the site is returning a database error.

Confirmed that I didn't receive your PM. If you're comfortable sharing it, I can look up the name you attempted to register on the official forum.

Well, of course ya didn't - new users aren't allowed to send PM's - that being the core of the problem. All we can do is open you profile and stare longingly. ;) To add insult to injury, we're not even allowed to look at our own profiles.

edit: NVM, I did manage to get it into the state where I could send a PM to you. Think maybe the Steam Linker service was being screwy that day, and now that it works, I can PM. Though, it's still being wonky, as described in said PM (still no permission to open my own profile).

Again, I do suggest trying to make a new account yourself, and seeing how it goes. Think ya got the new user restrictions set a tad too high. I run a forum myself, so I know the Russian spammers are in overdrive, but while a little paranoia is good...
