18.1 Not levelling up

Since updating to 18.1 me and my friends characters are not levelling up. The xp bar doesn't move but we get the text saying "xp earned" or "shared xp". Has anyone else had this issue?

If you died somewhat recently (or multiple times) it won't set you back to past levels but it WILL give you a -XP penalty that you need to pay back before you start leveling again.

In Character stats it says 588,000 xp to level up yes 5 hundred and eighty eight thousand.

Is it because we didn't start a new game on 18.1 and carried over game from 18.0 experimental? How has no one else had this problem. Searching brought up no results

I don't think that's the problem since I did the same thing and it's been working fine so far.

They changed the exp requirements in A18, it's MUCH slower even on 300% exp gain
getting level 2 used to be roughly 9800xp, lv4->5 was 10,200
now lv4-5 is like 13500
1million exp now gets you to like level 36 and another million gets you to like 46, where level 100 in a17 used to be 2.25M exp
not exactly sure how much exp debt the death penalty is, but you have to make that up first before you can gain more exp

I believe the formula was changed from 9545 * (1.0149 ^ level). to 10500 * (1.05 ^ level) to account for the ability to gain a lot more exp from non-killing sources, but this has snowballed to needing way too much exp

I have the same problem after updating to 18.2. Did it fix itself, or did you have to start a new game? Even using the command for giving myself XP didn't work; I'm stuck...

Actually, I just noticed that my the 'XP 'til next level' is moving. It might just be that the bar is glitched and I'm actually going to level up. I'll find out eventually.

The problem I had was that the XP required to level up was the XP difference of level 0 to level 90 or whatever I was. You can check this for yourself by going to character stats.

The game thought I didn't have any xp yet because I was on the new version (went from 18.1 to 18.2 without starting new game). But I was actually level 90 odd. So I had to gain all that xp again.

You can either do giveselfxp in the admin console or you can modify the xp multiplier until everyone is back to the right amount of xp. We did a horde night before finding a fix. There were 3 of us so we just did it until we gained 3-4 more levels from what we were.

The OP is from a18, it's now a20. You resurrecting this had me all confused. Jesus....

I would recommend creating a new thread with further details of your problem. As the post above stated - this is from A18. I doubt your problem is the same as mine or that the fix is the same.

Also, @N42UT0_ you've necro'd a 3 year old thread. We highly recommend NOT doing that because this game is continually evolving and information from that long ago.....and the answers given....may no longer be relevant.

As to the issue......anytime you change versions by opting into a Beta (which is the best way to select a version of the game) you should run the 7d2d launcher, switch to tools tab. click 'Clean....' selecting all the checkboxes and clean the old data. Just be sure to make a backup of your desired save and associated map files for the save first. Then can copy back to correct user folders afterward. Also, do the 'Verify files' option in Steam 7d2d properties.
