I built farm plots for them all, so its not on the edge of anything. Well, its occupying a corner farm plot......
Using Minecraft as an example, at least a few versions ago, if you stood in a chunk with your wheat growing, but also had wheat growing in the 8 adjacent chunks, then the chunk you're in will finish growing before the 4 orthogonaly adjacent ones (Up/Down/Left/Right); And the 4 orthogonal ones would finish growing before the 4 corner ones.
For a visual reference:
3 2 3
2 1 2
3 2 3
With 1 growing first and 3 growing last.
The same thing can happen in 7DTD. If your one single crop is just over the border into another chunk, then it will grow just a little slower. If it happens to be the one single block that ends up in a third chunk (using the example above), then it will grow slower still.
This effect occurs because the game cares most about the chunk you are actually in- Making sure everything works perfectly. Then it moves it's attention to other chunks around you, but cutting some corners in the simulation, as it were.
Since the crop causing you trouble IS a corner plot, It's most likely (but not guaranteedly) that it is in a diagonally adjacent chunk.
Amusing. Though this is my farm plot layout. The problem spot was the empty one im aiming at(I removed the seed entirely).

Kinda strange that if it is cuz of chunks, how the one in the middle is growing slow. But this is 7dtd...game is pretty wack most the time.
Im using Bdubs vehicle mod, Firearms 4 and Riles Hud plus 1.07.
I will fully agree that HUD is pretty good. Honestly, it is what the vanilla hud should be. It tells you what it needs to without being intrusive and...unlike vanilla, it actually tells you what you need to know.
Heh. Yay for unintended realism I guess.
