With that said, the game simulation doesn't run unless somebody's in the game. And even when the game is running, zombies won't target vehicles; they'll only target you.
Anyway, you can open the console with F1 and enter le for list entities. If there's a gyrocopter in the area, it should be listed. If it's not in that list, then it's either far away or it's no longer in the world at all. You could enable creative mode (cm in console) and open the creative menu with U if you want to restore a lost gyrocopter or other lost item.
Vehicle theft could only be a thing in multiplayer. It's conceivable that would change with the addition of bandits, but we'll see.
Question... will be hard to recall given you last played a month ago: Did the game exit normally last time you played? Are you on a laptop and the battery died, or did it go to sleep, or did your PC crash, or ALT F4 (whatever mac equivalent is)? Any of those?
A few months back I lost a gyro and I was flying when the power went out. Another time I had just landed it, same end result w/ a PC crash, and lost it there as well.
Just some possibilities!
No, nothing like that, really. I reappeared in my base home just as I remembered, but couldn't remember if I had left the gyro outside or put it in my pocket to store inside, which I occasionally do. So I checked all the lockers but nada, hence my post. But thanks for offering that possibility. Interesting to hear of your experience.
