Xbox controller not working. Any ideas on a fix?

I've tried: turning on and off input settings in steam, turning controller off and on during the game, turned off vsync and frame limiter (I wouldn't have thought these were related but others said it worked), enabled and disable the native input in the launcher settings.

Anything else worth trying before I give up on the game. Unfortunately with my PC arrangement, I have to play this with controller or not at all.

I believe there’s still a “native input module” you can enable or disable in the launcher window that appears after you press play in Steam. This has worked for others on controllers in the past.

As per my OP I did try this but I'll maybe try disabling that box and see what happens.
